Fail-safe action Depending on the arrangement of the compression springs in the Type 3271 or Type 3277 Actuar (see Data Sheet T 8310 EN and T 8311 EN for details), the control valve offers two different fail-safe actions effective upon air supply failure. "Actuar stem extends", the valve is closed upon air supply failure; "Actuar stem retracts", the valve is opened upon air supply failure. The double acting Type 3275 Pisn Actuar (Fig. 6) does not have a fail-safe action. Notes on the differential pressure tables 4a 5d The differential pressure tables listed below have been prepared under the following conditions: For valves in nominal sizes 1 2 2" with actuars containing an effective diaphragm area of 700 cm 2 (108.5 in 2 ), the maximum permissible supply pressure comprises 58 psi (4 bar) Process medium flow directed against the closing direction of the valve plug Version with PTFE stuffing box With the maximum differential pressures specified, the leakage rates specified in Table 1 are not exceeded. The differential pressure specified can be limited by the Pressure-Temperature Diagram.
