Introduction For most businesses the predominance of costs are initiated and managed by or through supply chain management. Operating often in silos, supply chain management functions in a highly tactical manner with little consideration of how to strategically reduce operating costs and increase cash flow while maximizing a return on investment. As strategic leaders within the organization, accounting professionals are best positioned to attain an intimate understanding of the strategic aspects of supply chain management in order to improve how working capital is invested and understand how operating capital can be strategically managed. Shawn has nearly two decades of experience in supply chain management with such companies as Magna International, Arvin Meritor, NCR, Pilkington, Bellwyck Packaging Solutions and Bruce Power LP. Shawn holds the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation, the Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) designation from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada, and the Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Supply Management. Shawn is also a Certified Six Sigma Green belt and a practitioner of Lean.
