JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Public Relations Director is responsible for the public relations, marketing, web page updating, advertising and special events, including fundraisers, throughout the hospital. She/he works under the supervision of the President/CEO. She/he must be able to work with stern deadlines, flexible schedules, numerous interruptions and a variety of different people and personalities. She/he should be creative, and know the importance of newsworthy information, as well as an understanding of the background of the surrounding communities; their needs, wants and attitudes. Adheres to the Mission and Values of PMC. MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as facility spokesperson. Develops advertisements and public service announcements (PSA's) to be placed in magazines, newspapers, bulletins, community newsletters, access channel and on the radio. Interviews, photographs, writes informative stories and news released to be printed in area and regional newspapers and magazines. Coordinates and develops monthly in-house and community newsletters. Coordinates and develops promotional and marketing events and activities for the surrounding communities that are sponsored by the hospital, care center and/or clinic. Develops and coordinates promotional activities for the hospital employees. Coordinates necessary projects for attendance and participation in community events and activities. Organizes and attends news conferences. Coordinates, arranges, advertises and distributes information for telemedicine and outreach physicians. Orders promotional items for facilities. Help as a regional interest/activities spokesperson in the recruitment efforts of the facilities. Develop annual fund raiser for PMC. Update webpage. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma. College course work or experience in communications, marketing and public relations is preferred. Must be able to write stories and use a word processor or computer. Must be able to work with a flexible schedule, deadlines, a limited budget and a variety of people. Should be personable, creative and able to work with many interruptions. An understanding or background in healthcare, as well as an understanding of the surrounding communities is preferred.
