IFS and Industrial IT from ABB for more efficient asset lifecycle management Seamless integration between automation systems and the full suite of business applications optimizes production. It offers more efficient control of the maintenance and manufacturing processes, a complete Integrated Plant System. The benefits of such integration are now tangible thanks to the partnership between IFS and ABB. The benefits of integrating automation systems and business applications are visible from sensor to boardroom. At shop floor level, object information is readily available to operators, allowing them to collaborate with maintenance technicians to achieve total productive maintenance (TPM). IFS integration with ABB s System 800xA means that information need only be entered once and in one location. The information is then available to all applications. This means that the information is more accurate, and the total asset lifecycle cost is greatly reduced. Moreover, companies can transition from calendar-based to the much more efficient condition-based maintenance, which will reduce maintenance costs. Foreseeing problems is much better than having to deal with them after they have occurred. As manufacturing and process industries increasingly focus on optimizing their business, both internal efficiency and production output are scrutinized in the effort to improve the bottom line. New demands are made on sharing information throughout the plant process to present management with a correct, complete and timely picture of the plant s status and allow them to make better-informed business decisions. Seamless integration of information systems for manufacturing, automation systems and business applications have become the key to success. ACTIVE WORK ORDERS WORK ORDER HISTORY BUSINESS PERFORMANCE EQUIPMENT COST ANALYSIS EQUIPMENT DATA SHEET OEE P & ID DIAGRAM CIRCUIT DIAGRAM By using System 800xA for integration between systems from different vendors, information about the equipment will be available from all participating systems. This provides seamless navigation between all integrated information systems.

Benefits INTEGRATING IFS APPLICATIONS AND SYSTEM 800xA WILL REDUCE COSTS VIA: Condition-based maintenance Lower the number of work orders without losing in plant security by basing preventive maintenance work orders on real-time information from field devices. The result is less work but at the right time money is saved and profits increase because of higher plant availability. Advanced maintenance triggers The maintenance triggers are used to detect necessary operations (simple or complex), to change parts or adjust equipment before the situation is urgent. This reduces the number of unplanned stops. Moreover, work orders can be generated automatically from the automation system. Asset cost reduction Asset lifecycle management includes all the stages from design and build, through go live and operation, to decommissioning and scrapping. By using a common reference for any object in the plant, the solution ensures that data is entered in only one system, but is accessible from any other system. This radically cuts the costs of data maintenance, and is the cornerstone for accurate data transfer between different systems. Synchronized object structure Maintaining information about objects that are added to or removed from the structure requires considerable resources. The solution supports automated synchronization of the object structure, connecting all information to each object added to the structure and deleting information when objects are scrapped. Overall equipment efficiency (OEE) OEE analysis registers events for stop times (start/stop), speed changes and quality losses, and connects these events to different causes and codes. The analysis calculates plant efficiency and indicates the main reasons for not running at maximum efficiency. Since data to be analyzed are entered via the system in one location only, usually by the operators, errors are minimal, information is accurate, and the OEE functionality becomes a reliable, cost-effective tool for enhancing efficiency. Automatic data generation is another benefit derived from integrated solutions. The possibility of having events reported automatically is another benefit derived from an integrated solution. Lifecycle profit serial objects In the business applications, we know exactly what individual object (serial object) is in what position at every moment. The automation equipment knows exactly which individual position is in operation and which is not. By combining this in real time, operators can register real-time operational hours on individuals, carry out benchmarking between different vendors and even build up experience data on MTBF, expected repair costs and other areas.

IFS Enterprise Asset Management and System 800xA The certified solution offers the following benefits thanks to the powerful integration capabilities of System 800xA: Fault reports and work orders The IFS fault report wizard enables operators to generate fault reports and work orders for maintenance staff. Operators can also list active work orders and historical work orders for an object. Preventive maintenance Operators can create and view their own preventive maintenance activities. They can also view work orders to be executed during overhauls. Condition-based maintenance is enabled via an OPC interface. Overall equipment efficiency Operators access the IFS OEE functionality to register OEE information such as event reports, production reports and quality reports. Equipment object cost Operators access the IFS portals to view costs for a selected plant object (costs for work, material and extra costs). Equipment data Operators can view technical data, check warranties, related spare parts, and the stock balance for selected objects. Connected documents Operators can view all documents connected to an object, such as instructions for usage and technical diagrams. Object structure Operators can view the underlying objects related to a selected object. Object measurements This displays measured values for an object; generated from an OPC server or entered manually. These measurements are used by the preventive maintenance component to check max/min and accumulated values. The event server functionality alerts users when levels have been exceeded and work orders are generated. When an alarm occurs, the operator can create a fault report by using a wizard where all the relevant information is predefined.

IFS and Industrial IT Enabled products and solutions from ABB The strategic alliance between ABB and IFS introduces the first standardized integration of automation systems and business applications. The solution is based on the Industrial IT platform of ABB Automation Technologies and IFS Applications. The alliance also includes joint product development, marketing and sales activities, and training. As part of the alliance, ABB acts as a global reseller for certain IFS Applications components. System 800xA Operations & IFS Applications The Aspect Object concept models enterprises in an object model. It displays relevant information as different aspects of concrete objects like pumps, valves, and motors, but also abstract objects like data on customers, suppliers or production orders. The System 800xA Operations environment implements the Aspect Object concept and is the cornerstone of the Industrial IT concept. It provides a framework and development tools to integrate different applications, where information can flow seamlessly in real time. Today, IFS Applications is Industrial IT certified to Level 1, meaning that a number of IFS Aspects are available for use in any System 800xA environment. The functionality in the first Industrial IT certified package from IFS includes different maintenance aspects. Operators get direct access to IFS EAM, retrieving the object ID from System 800xA Operations. Since operators directly access the IFS dialogs they require, they can start working immediately. With a single mouse click on the object of interest, operators can access a number of maintenance aspects, as well as aspects like alarms, events, history and trends, which are available from System 800xA.
