1 Metodology The backup process uses: Backup exec as a tool to tape drive backup; Windows Task Scheduler to replicate data for backup retention; Server information: o Name: S08BRSPL01BKP01 o IP: 10.25.51.51 1.1Lotus Notes Backup Daily Backup There are five Windows Task Scheduler for: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday that runs at 20:00. Full copy from Lotus Notes directory is taken on Wednesday and Friday For the others only mail folder is backed up Monday Tuesday and Wednesday are stored locally into the D drive Thursday and Friday are stored into a NAS device (10.25.51.52\backup) All scripts are located on the server at the following path: C:\PASTAS\SCRIPTS\COPYTASKS All logs from them are stored on: C:\PASTAS\SCRIPTS\COPYTASKS\log_notes Monthly Backup At the first Saturday at 01:00 of the month a backup is taken by Backup Exec into the tape drive. 3
Manual Action into the process We have manual checking into the process: Before it goes to tape drive someone has to check the log from Wednesday backup to be sure that it was taken, otherwise it has to run the Wednesday backup manually and check log again (C:\PASTAS\SCRIPTS\COPYTASKS\log_notes\ LotusNotes-Wednesday.txt). Also a manual check has to be done into the date of the files located on the following path: D:\BACKUP\Wednesday\notes\data\mail So then we are sure that the files were copied. 4
1.2Drive E All other backups Daily Backup Websites There is one Windows Task Scheduler take runs weekly on: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 18:00. A full copy is taken from one of the servers (10.25.53.11) from the E:\SITES folder into the server local folder: E:\PASTAS\BACKUP\V08BRBDC01WEB01\WEBSITES The Script is on: C:\PASTAS\SCRIPTS\COPYTASKS Log is on: C:\PASTAS\SCRIPTS\COPYTASKS\log_web VOIP Our Cisco VOIP global solution has a weekly backup and automatically it retains the last tree valid backup into the destination folder. Resources: There is a software: freeftpd that runs a windows service (freeftpdservice). o Two sftp is created into it: sftp://10.25.51.53/callm and sftp://10.25.51.53/unity Database Everyday a full database backup is taken from a SQL Server job. That job runs a stored procedure called isp_backup it searches all DB into the SQL Server instance. All backups are located into the local drive in the following patch: E:\PASTAS\BACKUP\SQL Also Differential and Transaction logs are taken into the same location There is a Windows Task Scheduler that clean up all those backups and retain files by one week * GSSG DBA Team is making a review on it Monthly Backup At the first Saturday at 01:30 of the month a backup is taken by Backup Exec into the tape drive. 5
Manual Action into the process We have manual checking into the process: Daily check has to be done on all SQL Server to be sure that all backup are beeing taking; 1.3Points of Attention Lotus Notes Backup We don t have all space needed to do the backup so all the following itens have to be checked: Wednesday full backup is high priority from the others so the space needed must be checked before it runs; Same as Friday full backup; 1.8 TB of space into the Tape must be available, if not ask for it to LAZ team 6
