Undergraduate Entrance Examination The HPAT (Health Profession Aptitude Test) The HPAT-Ireland test is a 2½ hour paper-based test consisting of three modules or sections: I. Mature Entry Mature Student: person aged 23 on 1 st January of year of entry CAO + directly to admissions office (supplementary form) apply by 1 st February Trinity - Grade B and a Grade C in two of Biology and Chemistry or Physics at higher Leaving Certificate level or equivalent. All applicants must sit the HPAT-Ireland test which will assist with short-listing candidates for interview. Reserves 7 places UCC - A HC3 Chemistry and either Physics or Biology in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent is required, as well as the HPAT Exam. There are four places available on this course for mature applicants.

Mature entry Cont/d Irish HEI s CONTD NUIG - 2 mature places to medicine for the academic year 13/14. The entry criteria is honours science from leaving cert, HPAT test and then short listing for mini interviews (MMI) UCD - Please note that students who qualify to apply for Graduate entry to Medicine will not be eligible to apply through the mature entry route. Subject requirements, HPAT, work experience, personal statement and interview. RCSI - The HPAT minimum score for mature applicants varies from year to year. Candidates above this score are invited to submit their CV, a personal statement and references supporting their application. Structured interview which takes place in May, comprised of two panels; one Academic and the other Clinical.

COST OF Medicine Each HEI will have some relationship with a lender and feel obliged to recommend these but students have found other lenders more favourable For example UL /ULSTER BANK RCSI/AIB BANK /BANK OF IRELAND UCC/BANK OF IRELAND UL Scholarship fees plus a modest contribution towards living expenses It costs approx 25K to put a student through medical school, there is funding for approx 12-13K of this by the state but again this depends on the specific HEI so check this out.

UK Requirements Graduate and undergrad UCAS www.ucas.ac.uk, apply as an individual deadline 15 th October 2014 Personal statement and one reference (contact details only + UCAS follow-up) 4 choices: Location, 5 year v 4 year, Learning style? Funding/Cost UK 2014-15 graduate entry to UG 5 year course First 4 years may be eligible for a full income based maintenance loan from Student Finance England, Year 5 may be eligible for NHS bursary for fees 2013/14; 14-15 GEM entry - student pays 3,465 year 1, loan from Student Finance England for remainder ( 5,535). Years 2-4 NHS bursary for 3,465 and loan to cover remainder. Again you will need to check this out with the relevant training body.
