The EVAL 7 software The EVAL 7 software is the dedicated software produced and developed by SINT Technology for the calculation of residual stress by the strain gage hole drilling method. The EVAL 7 software is fully compliant to ASTM E837-13 standard method and it provides, also, addictional calculations using different calculation methods and correction alghoritms. The EVAL 7 software is compatible with the old.dat file created with the MTS3000 Restan system. Moreover it can be used by users that already has the MTS3000 system or by other kind of users that are looking for a specified software for the calculation of residual stress by the hole drilling method. The EVAL 7 software can be provided in diffferent versions (Basic, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise) depending of needs of the costumer. 2
Base Professional Premium Enterprise Lis of the versions of the EVAL 7 software Flexible design of the software versions Users can buy only the instruments that they need depending of the measurements types Possibility of upgrade your software version Easy functions for the users that moves the first steps on hole drilling measurements Complete and deeper analysis of residual stress for the more skilled users Possibility to customize the software versions Software Features Automatic input of.txt/.dat file Edit Input Windows Strains interpolation Calculation as per ASTM E837-13 for uniform stress Calculation as per ASTM E837-13 for non-uniform stress Calculation by the Integral method Calculation by the Schwartz-Kockelmann method Export by.txt format Strain gage rosette / calculation coefficients database Extended version of ASTM E837-13 for uniform stress Extended version of ASTM E837-13 for non-uniform stress Viewer (Stress Graph, Direction Graph, Mohr Graph) Load / Save calculation config Automatic report of the measurement HDM calculation algorithms Eccentricity correction algorithms Plasticity correction algorithms Measurement uncertainty for uniform stress calculation Measurement uncertainty for non-uniform stress calculation 3
Key Features of the EVAL 7 software The main key features of the EVAL7 software are: Fully compliant to the MTS3000 - RESTAN system Implementation of the HDM method Implementation of eccentricity correction Implementation of local plasticity correction Deeper strain gage rosette database New graphical layout Better algorithms for the interpolation of acquired strains Graphical comparison between different calculation method Plot of residual stress Mohr circles Calculation of residual stress in any direction (grids and custom direction) Automatic measurement report 4
EVAL 7 benefits: New interpolation of acquired strains The EVAL 7 software allows to choose a greater variety of strategies for the interpolation of the acquired strains. The user will use the following method: None Polynomial Polynomial Optimized Spline This functions allow to selected the better interpolation algorithms depending of the experimental noise that you have in the measurements and the quantity of steps acquired during the drilling process. Interpolation of the acquired strains is the first step for obtaining the best results. 5
EVAL 7 benefits: New calculation methods The EVAL 7 software provides a great variety of calculation methods depending of the stress distribution on the workpiece under testing. The methods differ for the depth of analysis, the flexibility on the configuration of the calculation parameters and the possibility of correct the results. The user will use the following calculation methods: ASTM E837-08: Uniform ASTM E837-13: Uniform ASTM E837-13: Not Uniform Integral Schwartz-Kockelmann HDM 6
EVAL 7 benefits: Correction alghoritms The EVAL 7 software has introduced the correction algorithms for the more typical errors involved with the hole drilling method (eccentricity errors and local plasticity errors). Eccentricity error Local plasticity error 7
EVAL 7 benefits: Graphical comparison The EVAL 7 software allows a simple graphical comparison of the results obtained with different calculation methods (ASTM E837-08 and -13, Integral method, Kockelmann method and HDM method). The comparison window helps the user in the calculation of residual stress, in the selection of the best calculation method for his application. It can be helpful also for a fast comparison of the results obtained with the same calculation method but with different setting parameter and configuration of analysis (for example number and distribution of the drilling steps). 8
EVAL 7 benefits: Calculation of RS in any plane direction The EVAL 7 software allows the calculation of residual stress in any plane direction. It s possible to calculate residual stress in principal direction, in the direction of the strain gage rosette grids and in a custom direction (by specifying the angle of orientation). 9
EVAL 7 benefits: Plot of Mohr circle graphs The EVAL 7 software allows a graph plot of the residual stress Mohr circle in the depth of the drilled hole. By moving the pointer it's possible to view the Mohr circle with normal and shear stress at each calculation depth. 10
EVAL 7 benefits: Automatic measurement report With the EVAL 7 software it s possible to create a complete measurement report in.pdf format just with some clicks: the user has to specify the export data by a drop-down menu that has to be inserted in this report. 11
EVAL 7 software and the MTS3000-Restan system The EVAL 7 software is fully compliant to the standard MTS3000 RESTAN system for residual stress hole drilling measurement: using this measurement chain, the user can load the input file created by the RSM software only with one click. The EVAL 7 software is also compliant to the old version of the MTS3000 RESTAN system. Moreover, by editing manually the input.txt file, the EVAL 7 software can be used also without the standard chain of MTS3000 RESTAN system. The user will have to create a.txt file in which the following data will be reported : strain gage rosette data (model, type, strain gage average diameter) drilled hole data (diameter, eccentricity and total depth) material data (Young module and Poisson ratio) acquired strain for each grid for each drilling step depth 12
New graphical layout The EVAL 7 layout is an upper toolbar that allows a better navigation of the screen of your computer during the back-calculation of the residual stress. Left side Menu selection Main pushbuttons Right side Hole drilling test information 13
New graphical layout The main windows of the toolbar are: Load data Test setup Graphs setting Report setting General setting 14
Load Data menu Load data The Elab file is a new improvement of the EVAL 7 software and consists in a save of all the calculation configurations/paramethers used for the selected file. It can be helpfull for a quick rewied of the calulated results. 15
Test Setup menu Test Setup The EVAL 7 software introduces a new material database for helping the user in the selection of the value of the material properties. 16
