In the current situation, the number of energy sources in the world become less because of inefficient usage and the lack of realization on energy saving. Consequences from overusing energy include global warming problems. To encourage and promote efficient use of energy and energy reduction, this research was to improve energy awareness through 3D computer animation. The animation was created in the form of video animation format and has production process as follows: 1) Pre-production: problem defines, story board, turntable animation and backdrop design 2) Production: 3D model character, shading and texturing, lighting and shadowing, rendering and compositing and 3) Post-production: combining the story, inserting voice record and sound. A statistical examination, the research validation was evaluated by 5 experts and resulted in good level ( = 4.11, S.D. = 0.64). When testing understanding and perspective on animation media with the sample group of 50 students from Sripatum University Chonburi Campus, the result of the survey that conducted before presenting the campaign (pre-test) was in moderate level ( = 3.32, S.D. = 0.56) while the result that conducted after presenting the campaign (post-test) was in very good level ( = 4.67, S.D. = 0.48). Therefore, the 3D computer animation could help samples understand more about importance of energy reduction. Introduction After industrial revolution, most countries include developed countries such as USA, China, Russia, Japan and European countries and developing countries including Thailand, have turned to industrial society. The impact of industrialization has caused environmental change including geographic, climate, and society. On the other hand, it helps create modern technology and facilities. Some facilities use some sorts of energy as such as electricity, oil, etc. Therefore, energy is very important thing to human societies. As the demand for energy increase, some sorts of energy might be used up and run out in the future. To reduce the risk of lacking energy or to slowdown the future problems, efficient use of energy and energy reduction should be realized and perceived [1]. The purpose of energy reduction campaign is to let people realize problems that might happen in the future if the over consuming keeps going. Many types of media have been used to make campaigns. However, at the present, the most attractive media is animation. Animation was originated by the theory of persistence of vision. The persistence of vision is the phenomenon of the eye by which an afterimage is thought to persist for approximately one twenty-fifth of a second on the retina and believed to be explanation for motion perception. Animation creation methods include traditional animation (two-dimensional or hand-drawn animation or cut-out animation), stop motion animation of three-dimensional objects (clay animation), and digital computer animation (images are displayed in a rapid succession) [2]. Therefore, everyone must be realized an importance of energy reduction and should continuously promote a campaign. The advantage of using animation media in campaign is that it is the most appropriate media especially the 3D computer animation technique which could illustrate and is very powerful in terms of perception. The purpose of this research is to measure efficiency of using 3D computer animation The Future for energy reduction campaign which is in the form of video format. The hypothesis is that a person after watching the animation campaign (Post-test) will understand and realize an importance of energy reduction more than before watching it (Pre-test). Evaluation 5.1 A rating scale questionnaire is created to measure efficiency of the 3D computer animation. 5.2 The 3D computer animation is presented to the sample group as well as having them filled out questionnaire before and after watching the campaign. 5.3 Survey on the perspective of animation media before presenting the 3D computer animation. 5.4 Survey on the perspective of animation media after presenting the 3D computer animation. For evaluation process, a 5-rating scale questionnaire was used during evaluation process. The rating 5 means very agree while the rating 1 means very disagree. In this evaluation process, means ( ) and standard deviation (S.D.) are statistical techniques that are used in this research. Item A campaign using 3D computer animation can stimulate awareness of energy reduction. You realize importance of energy and care for energy reduction. 3D computer animation regarding of energy reduction should be produced more. 3D computer animation regarding of other issues should be produced more. A campaign using 3D computer animation is more effective than a campaign using other types of media (e.g. poster, handbill, brochure, etc.) Table 1 Show mean and S.D before and after watching campaign Before watching campaign After watching campaign Mean S.D. Interpretation Mean S.D. Interpretation 2 2.88 0.44 somewhat agree 4.66 0.56 very agree 3.48 0.58 agree 4.70 0.54 very agree 3.42 0.70 somewhat agree 4.84 0.37 very agree 3.74 0.56 agree 4.76 0.43 very agree 3.10 0.54 somewhat agree 4.40 0.49 agree Average 3.32 0.56 moderate 4.67 0.48 very agree Conclusion According to the survey on perspectives of 3D computer animation for energy reduction, the result of the survey that was conducted before presenting the campaign (pre-test) was in moderate level ( = 3.32, S.D. = 0.56) while the result after presenting the campaign (post-test) was in very good level ( = 4.67, S.D. = 0.48). This research of comparison on the achievement of 3D computer animation The Future for energy reduction campaign revealed that 3D computer animation media not only can influence and make people realize the importance of energy reduction, but it also provides pleasure and entertain viewers.
