Remote HMI next generation

Made for the future. Operating and Monitoring Systems for all areas 3 As part of the R. STAHL Technology Group, R. STAHL HMI Systems GmbH has for more than 20 years specialized in the development and production of operating and monitoring systems. Since our foundation we have been the only company worldwide covering the whole range of products in this area: covering equipment for installation in hazardous areas (Exicom) as well as industrial areas (ProVicom). First and foremost we consider ourselves to be a provider of solutions, ensuring that our products can be easily integrated into overall processes, particularly within integrated systems. Naturally, our devices comply with the strictest safety rules, are certified according to international standards and can thus be installed world-wide. In addition to absolute safety, another hallmark of our system solutions is that they are future-proof. We won't just settle for the tried and tested - we develop our technologies further so that they meet tomorrow's requirements today. The most recent example of this is our new generation of Remote HMIs.

One system, countless possibilities. Remote HMI for hazardous areas In hazardous areas of process automation the Remote operating station continues to be the preferred solution for operating and monitoring equipment. The associated PC is located in the safe area, connected via an interface for keyboard, video and mouse with the KVM box. A frequent problem is that the Remote HMI systems currently on the market have trouble with modern, digital interfaces and are not flexible enough for integration into state-of-the-art network solutions. 4 R. STAHL has a solution: a new generation of Remote HMIs that allow both the easy connection to older systems with analog VGA and PS2 interfaces and the connection to modern PCs with DVI and USB. The integration into modern networks is very easy because of using standard Ethernet. As a standard, the Remote HMIs are fitted with a touch screen and several interfaces, and they offer countless application options. Below are five examples that explain in detail what these could look like. KVM /// The classic option The PC is connected to the KVM box via the interfaces for keyboard (K), video (V) and mouse (M). The box communicates with the Remote station via Ethernet TCP/IP. The physical connection can be via copper TX, optical fiber FX or WLAN. Hazardous area Optical Fiber (alternatively)

KVM /// via RDP via Real VNC Ethernet Hazardous area The future option The connection via the KVM box, which is our current standard, will in future increasingly make way for modern Thin Client applications. Fortunately for our customers, our new Remote station can do both - connect to a KVM box or function as a Thin Client. The all-rounder Here, the flexibility of the new system becomes apparent: several PCs can be accessed simultaneously by various Remote stations - be it for example for process automation or a condition monitoring system. KVM /// KVM /// Ethernet Hazardous area 5 KVM /// Ethernet Hazardous area The cost-cutter If you need several Remote stations but want to keep licensing cost low, up to four Remote stations can be connected via an Ethernet switch to one workstation and thus be connected to the KVM box. Here, all stations will show the same image of the workstation. The big picture You need to display a lot of information? The system can display the contents of up to eight monitors on the respective number of Remote stations. In span-mode and with touch screen operation. Everything's possible. KVM /// V2 V3 V4 Hazardous area Ethernet

Everything you want. System Highlights In addition to their unbeatable flexibility of application, the new generation of Remote HMIs has many more product highlights on offer that leave nothing to be desired with regard to operating and monitoring equipment. See for yourself: 6 Robust and service-friendly design The sleek design is not the only feature of the new Remote HMIs: they are very robust, too, for example due to protection type IP66 at the stainless-steel or polyester front and IP65 at the stainless steel housing (back). Their low weight is another plus, with a 48 cm (19") screen model weighing a mere 23.35 kg. Their modular design makes them particularly service-friendly: main module, power supply and other modules can be exchanged locally. Installation in hazardous areas worldwide The application options of the new system know no bounds - also in geographic terms. They are certified according to ATEX for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. Certifications according to UL for installation in class I zone 1 as well as for Russia (GOST), Brazil (UL) and many more countries are pending. State-of-the-art data transfer via Industrial Ethernet KVM box and Remote station communicate with each other via Ethernet. After all, this is the transfer type that is easiest to handle, has the least data loss and is standardised worldwide. For this connection, the devices either use copper or optical fiber. Optimum suitability for outdoor installation The devices can be installed in hazardous areas without any additional, special housings. For outdoor installation under extreme conditions we can supply housings with integrated heaters, sun-roofs and protective covers.

Simple operation via mouse and soft-keyboard The devices can be fully operated without any additional keyboard. A mouse driver supporting both left and right mouse click functions and a soft keyboard pre-installed for 24 different language layouts are integrated and also available at the Windows log in. State-of-the-art TFT displays with touch screen The new system's state-of-the-art displays have a lot more to offer than cutting-edge technology, such as a brilliant display, wide reading angles, high contrast, great luminence and a life cycle of 50,000 hours. All models of the series have touch screens as a standard. Resistance to extreme temperatures 7 Be it icy cold or sweltering heat - extreme ambient temepratures are no problem for the new devices. Normal operation is possible from -20 C to +50 C, with heater from -30 C to +50 C, and with heater and screen cover even from -40 C to +50 C. Ready-to-run As of now, the adjustment of the length of data transfer and the time-consuming calibration of frequencies are things of the past. In the case of digital connections, the system will parameterize itself, and in the case of VGA and PS2 you merely run a automatic calibration.

Clarity at a glance. The perfect firmware Everything in view and simple access - these are the two key ingredients of a good monitoring and operating system. Naturally, the firmware should also fulfill this requirement. In fact, exactly as is the case with our new Remote HMI system. Always know what is going on 8 You did everything right during the installation - great! But what happened if the screen starts to flicker or has a blue tint? Our new Remote HMI system lets you know immediately by means of a network diagnosis - directly at the Remote station and also at the KVM box. Quick and easy configuration All parameters are set via the On-Screen menu (OSD). All parameters can be saved on a USB stick and restored at any time. Configuration could hardly be any easier.
