INGENIOUS SOLUTIONS FOR MORE EFFICIENT FARMING.

FARM RAISED Everyone wants to breathe clean, fresh air, and the agricultural equipment industry is doing its part by developing engine solutions that meet the rigorous Tier 4A emission regulations. At New Holland Agriculture, the effort to reduce emissions is not just a legal requirement. We know that environmental consciousness is and always has been a way of life on the farm. We re FARM RAISED. Our equipment is designed and built by farmers, sold by farmers and used by farmers. And we re committed to offering intelligent solutions that make farming more efficient and kind to the environment. Leading the way with two solutions for Tier 4A engines and our zero emission, hydrogen-powered tractor, NH2 is just part of our environmental commitment to being FARM RAISED. NEW HOLLAND: THE CLEAN ENERGY LEADER Environmental responsibility is nothing new to farmers or to New Holland. As the first manufacturer to offer 100% biodiesel compatible tractors and equipment, we revolutionized environmentally friendly farming. Today, almost every product in the New Holland line can use this renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. But it doesn t stop here RESPECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT. TOMORROW WILL BRING TRUE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE New Holland is already developing concepts that go well beyond what is required by future emissions regulations. In fact, we are imagining a zero emissions future, and a world where you can meet all of your own energy needs. This is not a dream. We have made it a reality with our prototype of the NH 2 tractor. The NH 2 runs on pure hydrogen, produced by you, the farmer, on your future Energy Independent Farm. The NH2 itself produces virtually zero emissions, just a little water. New Holland is always looking beyond the horizon to deliver you tomorrow s solutions today.

THE EMISSIONS REDUCTION STORY 1996 saw the introduction of the first Tier 1 emissions standards. Since then, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) have been reduced by 60%. With the introduction of Tier 4A regulations in 2011, PM will decrease 90% and NOx by 50%. These toxic substances are produced during combustion and can harm the environment and human health: NOx: nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide are produced during combustion when the engine is at its hottest. These gases are two of the main causes of acid rain and the shrinking ozone layer. PM: particulate matter is mainly made up of tiny carbon particles and other poisonous substances which are created when not all of the fuel is burned during combustion, generally when the engine is cooler. Note: This graph gives equal weight to NOx and PM reduction particulate matter Tier 1 (1996): 1 Tier 2 (2002): 4 Tier 3 (2006): 6 Tier 4A (2011): 100 Nitrogen oxide 100 TIMES BETTER OFF THAN OVER A DECADE AGO New Holland has reduced emissions 100 times over the last decade to improve the lives of farmers and their families. In real terms, this means you can run your Tier 4A compliant machine for 100 days and produce the same amount of emissions as a Tier 1 machine would have in just one day. POWERED BY FIAT POWERTRAIN TECHNOLOGIES New Holland is not going it alone when it comes to Tier 4A technology, we draw on the experience of our engine development partner: Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT). Pioneers: Fiat invented Common Rail technology in the 1980s and brought it to the masses in 1997 on an Alfa Romeo car. They were the very first to introduce it on agricultural machines. Pioneering. Always. Cleaner: Fiat Group Automobiles have the lowest overall CO 2 emissions of any automotive manufacturer in Europe. Cleaner. Everywhere. Proven: FPT has already produced over 100,000 SCR engines during the last five years for the trucking industry. Reliability. Confirmed. After all, only those who invented it can reinvent it.

ONLY THE BEST WILL DO New Holland has adopted TWO different solutions based on their respective benefits: Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (CEGR) with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Why? We are committed to integrating the best available engine technology to reduce your operating costs and increase your productivity, and a one-size-fits-all approach simply won t cut it. New Holland has chosen tailor-made solutions for each and every individual machine. After all, no two farms are alike, and neither are two pieces of farm equipment. High-powered agricultural machines, such as the most powerful tractors, forage harvesters and combines, generate more engine heat and require enhanced cooling systems. Section A. This made SCR the natural choice for machines over 100 hp. Why? It reduces the cooling requirement as well as guaranteeing power output. Section B. For smaller tractors operating at lower horsepower with lower heat rejection (and therefore lower cooling demands), CEGR is the right solution. COOLING REQUIREMENT LOW POWERED ENGINES B CEGR POWER HIGH POWERED ENGINES A SCR TWO SOLUTIONS BUILT FOR YOU. CEGR: COMPACT SOLUTION FOR LOW-HORSEPOWER MACHINES GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES Good things come in small packages, and this solution keeps compact tractors compact. The CEGR/DPF solution fits into the existing package to guarantee optimum maneuverability and all-around versatility. YOUR GUIDE TO CEGR: CEGR/DPF will be used on lower-horsepower tractors since this solution is perfect for products that have reduced cooling requirements and is neatly contained within the engine compartment. It decreases NOx emissions by recirculating a controlled quantity of cooled exhaust gas into the air intake. Any remaining particulate matter is eliminated by the external diesel particulate filter which cleans the gas before it leaves the exhaust.

SCR: HIGH-PERFORMANCE SOLUTION FOR HIGH-POWER MACHINES YOUR GUIDE TO SCR SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction, uses a catalyst to treat the NOx contained in the exhaust gas, transforming it into harmless water and nitrogen, which both occur naturally in the atmosphere. To achieve this, an after-treatment system adds Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), also known as AdBlue, in the exhaust. It is a water and urea mix, which is non-toxic and colorless in the exhaust. The entire system is managed by a Dosing Control Unit (DCU) which uses a sensor to monitor the exhaust gases. The DCU receives this information, and uses it to calculate the precise amount of AdBlue/DEF that needs to be added to the mixture. Since SCR occurs outside of the engine, engine designers are able to optimize the combustion process in the engine to reduce particulate matter. Want more? How about guaranteed outstanding performance thanks to features such as Engine Power Management. Supply module AdBlue/DEF additive AdBlue/DEF tank Dosing Control Unit Exhaust gas containing NOx SCR Catalyst Nitrogen and Water Selective Catalytic Reduction

THE SCR ADVANTAGE REFRESHING BREATHABILITY: The SCR engine `breathes clean fresh air, instead of dirty hot recirculated `smog, to ensure optimal combustion conditions. The result: 7% increased maximum power and 13% higher torque. Cool power. Clean performance. Nef Engine Tier 3 EGR (T7070) Tier 4A SCR (New T7070) Improvement Max Power 252 hp / 185 kw 269 hp / 198 kw + 7% Torque 756 lb-ft / 1025 Nm 856 lb-ft / 1160 Nm + 13% Torque Backup 32% 40% + 25% EPM Band 27 hp / 19 kw 41 hp / 30 kw + 52% RESPECTING YOUR PERFORMANCE DEMANDS. CONTROLLED POWER: Engine Power Management (EPM) tailors engine power delivery to actual operating conditions. SCR engines will benefit from increased EPM output of up to 41 hp for improved performance and fuel efficiency in all situations. Intelligent power. Pure and simple. TIER 4A SCR (NEW T7070) ENGINE POWER 41 hp Engine speed (rpm) Horsepower Max. power with EPM 269 hp Rated power 228 hp Available during demanding transport, PTO and intensive hydraulic applications. EXCEPTIONAL FUEL ECONOMY: T7000 Series tractors have already established a benchmark with customers for outstanding fuel economy. With Tier 4A, optimized combustion means more efficient power generation and up to 10% lower fuel consumption on Tier 4A SCR engines when compared to Tier 3 EGR models, thanks to improved breathability. Economical power. Improved efficiency.

HOW THESE SAVINGS TRANSLATE INTO REAL DOLLARS: To estimate your savings, multiply your annual fuel usage (hourly consumption X annual hour usage) times the cost per gallon of diesel fuel times the percentage gain in fuel efficiency. Example: Annual Fuel Usage Diesel Cost Tier IV Savings Gallon/hr Hours $/Gallon Efficiency Gain $/year 10 900 $2.53 10% $2,277.00 *All information is based on model T7040 engine homologation data LOWER TOTAL COST FOR YOU: An overall operating cost saving of up to 17% is achieved courtesy of improved fuel efficiency, 100% longer service intervals and reduced servicing costs all of which contributes to longer engine life. These savings are realized even after taking into account the purchase of AdBlue/DEF. The final word is more money stays in your pocket. OPERATING COST SAVING (%) TIER 3 EGR (T8000) TIER 4A SCR CURSOR ENGINE (NEW T8000) 17% COST SAVING PROVEN RELIABILITY With over 100,000 SCR engines produced, Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) knows a thing or two about engine reliability, since their industry-leading SCR system has been extensively developed and tested in the trucking industry during the last five years. FPT is at the cutting edge of engine technology, and is internationally renowned for its state-of-the-art SCR solutions. This proven technology will give you true peace of mind: your tractor or harvester is always ready when you are, and you can still enjoy New Holland s long service intervals. In short, they re engineered for life. PURELY FUEL Fuel quality may vary, but the SCR system used in New Holland equipment can run on standard fuels without the need for costly diesel additives. TODAY S SOLUTION FOR TOMORROW Leading experts agree that SCR technology will be invaluable in achieving final Tier 4B requirements in 2014. What does that mean for you? Well, for a start, both you and New Holland now have a head start in appreciating the value of the SCR solution, and we will continue to invest in the development of the next generation of farm equipment that will redefine the efficiency, comfort and performance that you demand.

YOUR GUIDE TO ADBLUE / DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) WHAT IS DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID? DEF, referred to as AdBlue, is a solution of water and urea that s added to the exhaust gases in the SCR after-treatment system, which transforms them into harmless water and nitrogen. WHAT DOES ADBLUE/DEF MEAN FOR MY MACHINE? Adding AdBlue/DEF will not affect your machine s performance at all, since it is contained in the after-treatment system. That means power generation remains at the impressive levels you ve come to expect from New Holland. WHAT DOES ADBLUE/DEF MEAN FOR ME? It means you ll have a more efficient machine with virtually no effort on your part. Throw in the environmental advantages, and it s a win-win situation. The AdBlue/DEF system has been engineered by design to offer you the ultimate in easy use. The additive tank is located next to the fuel tank to make filling up convenient. Another plus, you only need to fill your AdBlue/DEF tank every other time you fill with fuel. WILL I BE ABLE TO FIND ADBLUE/DEF EASILY? Absolutely. It will be available on your doorstep, through CNH Parts & Service. Contact your local dealer for more information, and be sure to ask about delivery directly to your farm for added convenience. It s also available from your local fuel supplier. www.discoverdef.com STORAGE? Not a problem! You ll be able to store AdBlue/DEF on your farm in a container size that suits your needs.
