SUSE Products

SUSE Linux Enterprise Oracle specific components Oracle Server Base (orarun) Oracle ASMLib (oracleasm) kernel module included in SUSE Linux Enterprise OCFS2 (ocfs2, ocfs2-tools, and ocfs2console) Note: ASMLib support packages (oracleasmlib and oracleasmsupport) are provided by Oracle. SUSE Linux Enterprise Derived Products SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SAP Applications VMware (OEM) Oracle Installation Issues: These products are derived from SUSE Linux Enterprise code base but there are some minor package changes, which causes Oracle Installer to think differently. Contd. 7

SUSE Linux Enterprise Derived Products Example SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for VMWare /etc/suse-release is same but /etc/issue has for VMWare extra string: Welcome to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 for VMware (x86_64) - Kernel \r(\l). Package sles-release is renamed to SLES-for-VMwarerelease which provides above two files. This confuses Oracle Installer (OUI) to think it's not an SLES11. Fix: Change CV_ASSUME_DISTRID=SUSE11 in file../database/stage/cvu/cv/admin/cvu_config (Refer Novell TID 7008274 or Novell Bug#680159) 8
