Accessories included Mounting adapter Car charging cable USB cable Using the buttons and connectors on the Camera/DVR unit ON/OFF: Used to manually power on and power off the camera. To power on the camera, press this button for 3 seconds. NOTE: If the Camera / DVR unit is power using the car charger in a car, the unit powers on and begins recording when the car starts, and stops recording and powers itself off when the car is shut off. MENU: Used to open the configuration menus. When the camera is not recording video, press the button once to open the configuration menu for the mode (Video, Capture, or Play) the camera is in, or press it twice to open the SETUP (global) menu. REC/SNAP: Used to manually start and stop recording when in Video mode, to take a snapshot when in Capture mode, or to play a recorded video when in Play mode. DOWN and UP: In the configuration menus, used to move vertically through the menus. In Play mode, used to select another video recording or snapshot to play. MODE: Press this button change the camera mode. The camera can be in one of three modes: Video (for recording video), Capture (to take snapshots), and Play (to view snapshots and playback recorded video). To use this button, then camera must not be recording video; to stop recording, press the REC/SNAP button. USB: Connector used for powering the unit with the car charging cable (converts 12 Vdc to 5 Vdc), and used to connect the Camera/ DVR directly to a computer USB port. AV OUT: Jack used to output video and audio from the camera to an external monitor. When an external monitor is connected, the flip-down LCD display is disabled. An AV OUT cable is not included. RESET: Use a thin wire (paper clip gauge) to reset and power off the Camera/DVR if it becomes non-responsive. Step 1. Charging the Camera/DVR unit There are two ways to charge and power the Camera/DVR unit: Using the car charging cable or USB cable: Plug the car charging cable or USB cable into the USB port on the Camera/DVR unit, then into a 12 Vdc power source or USB jack on a running computer. NOTE: The car charging cable will convert the source voltage to 5 Vdc to power the Camera/DVR and charge the internal LI-ion battery. When power is applied, the DVR will charge the internal LI-ion battery, and begin recording if an SD/MMC card is installed. To stop recording, push the REC/SNAP button on the left side of the unit. 2 MC104DVR High Resolution Windshield Camera/DVR

Using the USB cable: Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the Camera/DVR unit, then into a USB jack on a running computer. When power is applied, the Camera/DVR unit open USB mode (see below) will charge the internal LI-ion battery. To stop charging, disconnect the USB cable. When the internal battery is charging, the LED indicator on the underside of the Camera/DVR unit will be red. When the battery is fully charged, the red LED will be off. When fully charged, the Camera/DVR unit can operate without a charging cable for about 1 hour on its internal battery. Step 2. Mounting the Camera/DVR unit Suction cup Suction relief tab The Camera/DVR unit is designed to be attached to the inside of a window (windshield) when using the mounting adapter provided. To use the mounting adapter: 1. Screw the mounting adapter onto the top of the Camera/ DVR unit as shown in the picture to the right. 2. Remove the protective film from the suction cup, then push the suction cup onto the inside of a clean window (-shield). Make sure the mounting adapter is vertical. Flip open LCD display and power on the unit. 5. Loosen the Elevation lock knob, Horizon lock knob, and Pan lock nut. 6. Orient the Camera/DVR unit for the best alignment. 7. Tighten the Elevation lock knob, Horizon lock knob, and Pan lock nut to hold the Camera/DVR unit in place. 8. Connect the car charging cable to a power outlet in the car, and to the USB connector on the right side of the unit. With the car charging cable connected to the Camera/DVR, the unit will begin recording video when the car starts, and stop recording after the car is off, unless the REC/SNAP button is pressed. 9. Push the ON/OFF button to power off the unit, if necessary. 10. Inert an SD or MMC (1GB to 32GB, not provided) face down into the card into the card slot until it locks into place. (To remove the card, press the card in slightly and release to unseat the card NOTE: Before using the Camera/DVR, you should format the SD/MMC card to ensure it is compatible with both the DVR and operating systems. See Setting up the Camera and DVR configuration below. Step 3. Setting up the Camera and DVR configuration menus Your Camera/DVR can operate in one of three configurable modes: Video (output), Capture, and Play. Each of these modes has its own configuration menu. Also, there is a general configuration menu called Settings. Examples of these screens are shown below. 3

An additional mode, USB mode, is not configurable. See Downloading recorded video and snapshots (USB mode) below. Reset option is perform a factory reset of the Camera/DVR. This reset option will change the menu and screen language to Chinese. To navigate the Video, Capture and Play modes configuration menus and change settings: 1. Power on the Camera/DVR unit, if needed. 2. If the unit is recording video, stop recording by pressing the REC/SNAP button. 3. Press the MENU button once to open the configuration menu for the mode the camera is operating in. The mode is indicated by the icon in the upper right corner (see the scene examples above) for Video mode ( ), Capture mode ( ), and Play mode ( ). 4. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to highlight the parameter you want to change, then press the REC/SNAP button to open the options list. 5. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to highlight the option you want to select, then press the REC/SNAP button to select the option and return to the parameters list. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to select the other options you want to use in the current mode. 7. Press the MENU button to close the configuration menu. 8. Press the MODE button to select a different mode, then repeat the steps above to select the options you prefer for the mode. 9. Repeat this steps 1 through 8 to configure the third mode. To navigate the SETUP configuration menus and change settings: To procedure to make configuration changes in the Setup menus is the same as the procedure to configure the modes, except that, to open the Setup menus, press the MENU button twice when in any mode, then follow steps 4 through 7 above to select the configuration options you want to use and close the menus. See the following example. Example: Formatting the SD or MMC card It is highly recommended that you format SD or MMC cards with the Camera/DVR before using them for the first time. 1. If the unit is recording video, stop recording by pressing the REC/SNAP button. 2. Press the MENU button twice to open the Setup configuration menu. 3. Since the FORMAT parameter is automatically highlighted, press the REC/SNAP button to open the options list. 4. Press the DOWN button once to highlight Execute. 5

The formatting operation is usually completed in less than 10 seconds. 5. Press the REC/SNAP button to select the option (format the card) and return to the parameters list. 6. Press the MENU button to close the configuration menu. Step 4. Recording Video Guidelines for recording video: Power on the Camera/DVR unit if necessary. When you power on the unit, it immediately starts recording video. If the Camera/DVR unit was powered on but not recording video, press the MODE button repeatedly as needed to open the Video mode display. Press the REC/SNAP button to start and stop recording. Battery charge level Video mode icon Running time meter Video recording in progress NOTE 1: If the car charger is connected to the car power outlet and the Camera/DVR unit, the DVR will begin recording when the car starts, and save the file being recorded and power itself off when the car is shut off. NOTE 2: If a sudden impact to the car occurs, the DVR will automatically save the 2 minutes of video prior to the impact. Step 5. Taking snapshots (captures) Battery charge level Capture mode icon To take snapshots: Power on the Camera/DVR unit if necessary. If the unit is recording video, press the REC/SNAP button to stop recording. Press the MODE button repeatedly as needed to open the Capture mode display. To record a snapshot, press the REC/SNAP button to snap the scene. Capture mode 6

Step 6. Previewing video and snapshots To preview recorded video and snapshots using the DVR: 1. Turn on the Camera/DVR unit by pressing the ON/OFF button (if needed). If the camera is recording video, press the REC/SNAP button to stop the recording. 2. Press the MODE button repeatedly until the Play mode display appears. 3. Press the DOWN (and/or UP) buttons to select the file to preview. If the file is a video recording, press the REC/SNAP button to play the file; press the REC/SNAP button again to stop playback. 4. To delete the file selected, press the MENU button to enter the Play configuration menu. Press the REC/SNAP button, then use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to select either SINGLE (single file) or ALL (all files). Press the REC/SNAP button again to perform the deletion. Step 7. Downloading recorded video and snapshots (USB mode) You can download recorded video and snapshots to your computer in two ways: Using the SD or MMC flash memory card. Power off the Camera/DVR unit and remove the SD or MMC flash memory card. Insert it into a card reader connected to your computer. At the computer, use a file explorer to open the directory <Removable media> / DCIM / 100DSCIM The 100DSCIM subdirectory contains the JPG and AVI files recorded by the DVR Copy the files of interest to a local directory in your computer. NOTE: You can also delete files from the card. Return the SD / MMC card to your Camera/DVR unit. Using the USB cable. Power off the Camera/DVR unit, if necessary. Connect the USB cable provided to the USB port on the Camera/DVR unit, then to a USB port on your computer. The camera will power on automatically and show a USB connection display on the LCD panel. At the computer, use a file explorer to open the USB port directory <Removable media> / DCIM / 100DSCIM Copy the files of interest to a local directory in your computer. NOTE: You can also delete recordings from the card. Use your operating system to close (Windows: Eject) the <Removable media> drive, then disconnect the USB cable to power off the Camera/DVR unit. 7
