Video-conferencing: Overall Introduction The studio provides support for three forms of video-conferences via (1) Polycom, (2) Adobe Connect, and (3) Skype. Polycom system is the major video-conferencing tool available throughout all Indiana University (IU) campuses. When distance participants of a conference join from a sister IU campus, Polycom is the first choice to choose. It supports two-end as well as multipleend conference. Adobe Connect is also supported by IU University Information Technology Service (UITS) and is available to IU faculty and staff members for free. When a video-conference involves a substantial amount of document sharing and needs to be recorded, Adobe Connect is a perfect choice. Adobe Connect sessions can be run through Polycom system to exchange audio and visual content. Skype is mostly used in informal online meetings. When distance participants of a conference do not reside in any of IU sister campuses and have Skype accounts, Skype session can be considered. A web camera and a PC microphone are available for Skype sessions. As shown in the diagram, when a Polycom session is in use, it should be connected through the PC computer installed in the lectern cart. When an Adobe Connect session is in use, it can be connected either through the PC computer or a guest laptop. When a Skype session is in use, it can only connected through a guest laptop. 2
