Student Financial Resources and Scholarships (SFRS) 2014-15 Student Loan Automatic Packaging Q & A What is Student Loan Automatic Packaging? Student Loan Automatic Packaging is the process of predetermining eligibility and awarding a student loan based on the student s financial need and the federal loan program guidelines. Specifically, the system is packaging your eligibility for Federal Direct Subsidized and Federal Direct Unsubsidized loans. What are Federal Direct Subsidized and Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans? Federal Direct Subsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of higher education at a college or career school. Federal Unsubsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, but in this case, the student does not have to demonstrate financial need to be eligible for the loan. For both types of loans, students must be enrolled at least half-time and meet eligibility requirements to receive financial aid. What do I need to do?
