Tenterden Workhouse The Workhouse at Tenterden was designed by architect James Savage and constructed in 1843 on a site to the west of the town in Plummer Lane. Tenterden Poor Law comprised eleven constituent parishes: Appledore, Biddenden, High Halden, Kenardington, Newenden, Old Ebony, Rolvenden, Stone-Next-Tenterden, Tenterden, Wittersham and Woodchurch. The site of the now-demolished workhouse is occupied by the NHS West View hospital, which is managed by the Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust and provides nursing care for the elderly.
