Planning Learning Centers Learning Center Structures Free choice of centers, activities, partners Some activities required; other activities free choice All centers assigned; groups predetermined, rotation through activities.

Planning Learning Centers Where does each child go? What do they do when they get there? What do they do if they need help? How do they know if it s too noisy?

Planning Learning Centers Where do they put their work when they are done? What do they do if they finish early? How do they know where to go next?

Uninterrupted Time Working with groups or one-on-one during Center Time or How to get kids to leave you alone when you are working with a group or one-on-one!)

Uninterrupted Time Plan activities at centers that children can do WITHOUT adult help. Teach children how to work independently (without you!) Go to another child for assistance. Try to figure it out by yourself. Go to the teacher assistant or other free adult

Uninterrupted Time Teach children what an emergency is. Designate area that is the teacher group area. Have a visual signal that shows DO NOT DISTURB

Uninterrupted Time Point to the sign Gently redirect them to someone else who can help them, or to try on their own. Make it clear that you will NOT interact with other children while you are working in a teacher group Practice these procedures during group time. Acknowledge when children are successful!
