2 Consumer states unit will not steam Solution 1: Has the tank been filled with cold water? Yes, remove tank by lifting straight up and away from unit No, remove tank by lifting straight up and away from unit Ensure the black cap insert located at bottom of water tank is installed securely and the cap is tightened Unscrew cap at bottom of water tank, remove the insert assembly Place water tank back onto unit, with cap at the bottom, lining it up vertically with the unit and sliding it down into place. Turn unit on and wait for red ready light to come on. Press steam dispensing trigger located on handle. Is there steam now? Fill tank with cold water, replace insert assembly and cap, problem solved No, proceed to solution 2 Yes, problem solved Prepared by Monique Lania 2 Call Servicing Guide Steam Mop 1867F

3 Solution 2: Is the ready light on? **NOTE: The heater may take 1-2min to heat up No, plug the power cord into another outlet, ensure it is a functioning outlet. Does the ready light come on now and/or does the unit heat up and give out steam now? Yes, Press trigger, holding it in for 2min as the unit can take up to 2min to start steaming. Is there steam now? No, return unit to store Yes, problem solved No, remove tank and filter from unit Yes, problem solved With unit still switched on pour a small amount of cold water into the hole where the filter connects to the unit and press the spray trigger in, holding it in for 2 mins. Is there steam now? No, replace filter and tank onto unit and proceed to solution 3 Yes Is there water in the filter? Yes, when the filter is new, it may take a couple of minutes for the unit to pump water through it. The unit may make a louder noise while it is doing this, but should soon subside. Remedy Soak the filter in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes to saturate it. Replace filter and tank on unit. Is there steam now? 4 Solution 3: Check for steam at the spray tip How? **CAUTION: The spray tip may be hot, wait for it to cool Remove mop head by unscrewing and removing the single screw at the base of the unit. With unit on, press trigger. Is there steam at the spray tip? No, switch unit off. Remove any debris from spray tip using a paper clip. Switch unit on. Is there steam coming out of spray tip now? No, refer consumer to authorized service centre No, return unit to store Yes, mop Head may be clogged. Remedy Turn unit off. Pour white vinegar through the top of the Mop Head to clear the clog. Replace mop head, Is there steam now? No, Press the trigger in. Does the trigger have tension? Yes, problem solved Yes, return unit to store Using Phillips head screw driver, remove upper handle Slide handle assembly down into lower body of unit until it will go no further. Screw large Phillips head screw into the screw opening in the lower body and into the rear of the handle assembly, tighten with screw driver. Is there tension now when press trigger? 5 Consumer states calcium filter is turning blue Solution 1: The calcium filter will change from green to blue, which will usually occur over a period of 6 to 9-month time span depending on use. When the filter is completely blue, it is time to replace it. Using distilled water may extend the life of the filter. 6 Consumer states mop head/unit below the filter is quite warm to the touch Solution 1: The lower surfaces of the unit will become warm to the touch after it has been used for a few minutes. 7 Consumer states unit leaks between the tank and filter Solution1: Remove water tank by lifting straight up and away from unit. Is tank, filter or cap insert damaged? **NOTE: If the filter is blue in color it needs to be replaced. No Replace tank in unit, ensuring it is securely pushed onto unit. Refer customer to an Authorized Service Centre. 8 Consumer states unit leaks between the filter and the unit Solution1: Remove water tank by lifting straight up and away from unit. Is filter cracked or damaged? **NOTE: If the filter is blue in color it needs to be replaced. No Replace filter into unit, ensuring it is fitted securely in place. Turn unit on. Does it still leak now? 9 Consumer states new mop pad has developed holes in it after little use Solution 1: Ask consumer to read out the date code on the customer s unit. If it is before J03037, the mop pad has been redesigned and now has a reinforced insert in the pad. Advise customer to call Bissell Free call 1800 number again and press option 3 for spare parts. They can then ask for the spare parts office to send a replacement mop pad to them at no charge. 10 Consumer states unit left a yellow ring on their linoleum Solution 1: Put some undiluted white vinegar on a dry white cloth and wipe on yellow area. This should remove the yellow from the linoleum Prepared by Monique Lania 10 Call Servicing Guide Steam Mop 1867F

11 Consumer states steam emitted from the hole on side of unit Solution 1: *CAUTION: This area may be hot* This hole is a pressure relief valve. The valve is designed to release steam if something is blocking the steam path inside the unit. Remedy Using a Phillips head screw driver remove the single screw at the base if the unit and remove mop head. *CAUTION: The spray tip may be hot* Clear any clogs from the spray tip. Replace mop head back onto unit and tighten screw. Turn unit on. Is steam emitting from the hole on the side of the unit now? Yes, proceed to solution 2 No, problem solved Solution 2: Remove water tank by lifting straight up and away from unit. Is filter cracked or damaged? **NOTE: If the filter is blue in color it needs to be replaced. No Yes, ask consumer to call Bissell Free Call 1800 Number again and press Option 3 for Spare Parts and order replacement filter Replace filter into unit, ensuring it is fitted securely in place. 13 Can I use the steam mop on my floorboards? Bissell recommends you use the steam mop on sealed surfaces only.
