The Pneumatics Training System answers the needs of students in technical institutes, vocational colleges, and university engineering departments, as well as in industry. The training system encourages hands-on learning and is a great addition to any hydraulics and pneumatics lab. The pneumatics training program is divided into the following subsystems: Pneumatics Fundamentals, Electrical Control of Pneumatic Systems, Pneumatics Applications PLC (programmable logic controller), Troubleshooting Pneumatic Circuits, Servo Control of Pneumatic Systems, and Sensors. In Pneumatics Fundamentals, students are introduced to the basic principles and components of pneumatics. Electrical Control of Pneumatic Systems covers electrical control of pneumatic systems with ladder diagrams. Pneumatics Applications PLC expands upon the others with pneumatics applications controlled by PLCs. In Servo Control of Pneumatic Systems, students are introduced to servo-controlled pneumatic systems and their associated circuitry. In Troubleshooting Pneumatic Circuits, students develop their skills in troubleshooting. In Sensors, students are introduced to the operating characteristics of six types of photoelectric and proximity sensors. Most electrical components of the Electrical Control of Pneumatic Systems can be used with the Hydraulics Training Systems, Series 6080, allowing interconnection of the systems to perform more complete functions. 2 Festo Didactic

Innovative design Engineered for extreme ease of use, the basic system comes with a work surface assembly consisting of a solid metal, universal drip-tray hinged to a perforated, tiltable work surface on which pneumatic components can be mounted. The work surface can be configured to accommodate a wide variety of space and teaching needs. Lying flat over the drip tray, or tilted at 45, the work surface provides a large area on which pneumatic components and space-expanding work surfaces can be mounted at any location, either at 0 or 90. Mounting and removing components is especially easy with the quick-lock system that secures the component base plate to the work surface. Although the system is designed to operate atop a regular work table, an optional bench is available to provide mobility and storage space. Mounted on four heavy-duty, swivelling, lockable castors, the bench provides shelving for extra work surfaces and components. Optional dressing panels are also available to fully enclose the bench and provide storage area for components. The work surfaces may also be linked together for more complete electro-pneumatic/hydraulic circuits. By utilizing the optional work surfaces, exercise setups can be saved. Two student groups can simultaneously work on a bench when the Work Surface (Dual A-Frame), 6301-1, is used. All components meet industrial safety standards, are identified with the proper ANSI symbol, and are equipped with quick-connect fittings. Virtual Laboratory Equipment All components contained in the Pneumatics Fundamentals and Electrical Control of Pneumatic Systems can be simulated using the Windows -based Pneumatics Simulation Software (LVSIM -PNEU), 6485. The simulated components can be interconnected and their operation studied, using the same courseware as that used for the real equipment. Courseware The courseware consists of a student manual for each training system. The student manuals are divided into several units, each consisting of a series of hands-on exercises dealing with one of the pneumatics fields. Each exercise provides a clearly stated objective, a discussion, textbook references, a summary of the exercise procedure, a detailed exercise procedure, a conclusion, and a set of review questions. A ten-question test at the end of each unit allows students to verify what was learned in the unit. Refer to the tables of contents of the manuals for a list of the topics covered in the student manuals. The instructor guides contain the measurement results as well as the answers for each hands-on exercise of the student manuals, and the answers to the unit test questions. The courseware also includes a reference textbook, optional instructional DVDs, and courseware figures. These figures are available in the form of transparencies and on CD-ROM. Furthermore, all student manuals and instructor guides are available, as an option, in Job Sheet format. Festo Didactic 3

elearning Systems The courseware is also available in three elearning formats for users who prefer a computer-based approach: eseries, facilitated by the Mind-Sight elearning System. See Pneumatics Fundamentals eseries, 6486-E, and Advanced Hydraulics eseries, 6486-1. SCORM-based, designed to be hosted by a third-party, SCORM 1.2 compliant Management System. See Pneumatics Fundamentals SCORM, 6486-F, and Advanced Pneumatics SCORM, 6486-2. Stand-alone, available on CD-ROM. This format runs on a web browser and does not require any management system. See Pneumatics Fundamentals Stand-Alone, 6486-G, and Advanced Pneumatics Stand-Alone, 6486-3. Topic Coverage Introduction to Pneumatics (components, circuits, laws) Electrical Control of Pneumatic Systems PLC-Controlled Pneumatic Applications Servo Control of Pneumatic Systems Sensors Troubleshooting Estimated Program Duration: 100 hours Features & Benefits Equipment Many work surface options, including an A-Frame top to allow experiments on both sides Lockable storage available 4 Festo Didactic
