EMC ilters Cautions and warnings Important inormation Please read all saety and warning notes careully beore installing the EMC ilter and putting it into operation (see ). The same applies to the warning signs on the ilter. Please ensure that the signs are not removed nor their legibility impaired by external inluences. Death, serious bodily injury and substantial material damage to equipment may occur i the appropriate saety measures are not carried out or the warnings in the text are not observed. Using according to the terms The EMC ilters may be used only or their intended application within the speciied values in lowvoltage networks in compliance with the instructions given in the data sheets and the data book. The conditions at the place o application must comply with all speciications or the ilter used. Warnings It shall be ensured that only qualiied persons (electricity specialists) are engaged on work such as planning, assembly, installation, operation, repair and maintenance. They must be provided with the corresponding documentation. Danger o electric shock. EMC ilters contain components that store an electric charge. Dangerous voltages can continue to exist at the ilter terminals or longer than ive minutes even ater the power has been switched o. The protective earth connections shall be the irst to be made when the EMC ilter is installed and the last to be disconnected. Depending on the magnitude o the leakage currents, the particular speciications or making the protective-earth connection must be observed. Impermissible overloading o the EMC ilter, such as impermissible voltages at higher requencies that may cause resonances etc. can lead to destruction o the ilter housing. EMC ilters must be protected in the application against impermissible exceeding o the rated currents by suitable overcurrent protective. 9 01/06

EMC ilters Important notes The ollowing applies to all products named in this publication: 1. Some parts o this publication contain statements about the suitability o our products or certain areas o application. These statements are based on our knowledge o typical requirements that are oten placed on our products in the areas o application concerned. We nevertheless expressly point out that such statements cannot be regarded as binding statements about the suitability o our products or a particular customer application. As a rule, EPCOS is either unamiliar with individual customer applications or less amiliar with them than the customers themselves. For these reasons, it is always ultimately incumbent on the customer to check and decide whether an EPCOS product with the properties described in the product speciication is suitable or use in a particular customer application. 2. We also point out that in individual cases, a malunction o passive electronic components or ailure beore the end o their usual service lie cannot be completely ruled out in the current state o the art, even i they are operated as speciied. In customer applications requiring a very high level o operational saety and especially in customer applications in which the malunction or ailure o a passive electronic component could endanger human lie or health (e.g. in accident prevention or lie-saving systems), it must thereore be ensured by means o suitable design o the customer application or other action taken by the customer (e.g. installation o protective circuitry or redundancy) that no injury or damage is sustained by third parties in the event o malunction or ailure o a passive electronic component. 3. The warnings, cautions and product-speciic notes must be observed. 4. In order to satisy certain technical requirements, some o the products described in this publication may contain substances subject to restrictions in certain jurisdictions (e.g. because they are classed as hazardous ). Useul inormation on this will be ound in our Material Data Sheets on the Internet (www.epcos.com/material). Should you have any more detailed questions, please contact our sales oices. 5. We constantly strive to improve our products. Consequently, the products described in this publication may change rom time to time. The same is true o the corresponding product speciications. Please check thereore to what extent product descriptions and speciications contained in this publication are still applicable beore or when you place an order. We also reserve the right to discontinue production and delivery o products. Consequently, we cannot guarantee that all products named in this publication will always be available. 6. Unless otherwise agreed in individual contracts, all orders are subject to the current version o the General Terms o Delivery or Products and Services in the Electrical Industry published by the German Electrical and Electronics Industry Association (ZVEI). 7. The trade names EPCOS, EPCOS-Jones, Baoke, CeraDiode, CSSP, MLSC, PhaseCap, PhaseMod, SIFI, SIKOREL, SilverCap, SIMID, SIOV, SIP5D, SIP5K, UltraCap, WindCap are trademarks registered or pending in Europe and in other countries. Further inormation will be ound on the Internet at www.epcos.com/trademarks. 10 01/06
