1 Introduction Thank you for purchasing an A2B Electronics product. The MyM-3T is a revolutionary solution for reception and modulation of satellite transmitted TV-content into an analogue format suited for small SMATV networks where cost efficiency and high quality is required. The MyM-3T receives DVB-T transmissions. The MyM-3T unit is delivered with hardware and software that supports DVB-T reception, MPEG2/MPEG4 decoding, DSB RF modulation with NICAM or A2 audio, IP control and management. The MyM-3T can be upgraded for enhanced functionality by software upgrades. Software upgrades are available from A2B Electronics web site. A2B Electronics AB Phone: +46 (0)141 229115 E-mail: support@a2b.se Visit our web site www.a2b.se for more information. 3

2 Unpacking the unit The following items are included in the package: Amount Description 1 MyM-3T Micro Master 1 Installation guide 1 Power supply 12 VDC Every unit is quality controlled by us before delivery. Should any items be missing when unpacking, please contact our support service (see page 3 for contact info). Important information about power supply to MyM-3T unit To avoid problems with the MyM-3T its is important to use the supplied power supply. Operation with other types of power supplies will void the warranty. (See picture to the right). NOTE! Never connect two MyM-3T units to one power supply. This may cause damage to your MyM-3T. 4

The format is automatically selected by the MyM-3T. Sometimes both formats are transmitted and the MyM-3T then automatically chooses the format according to the priority set here. 6.1.5.4 Auto conversion If Aspect ratio is 16:9 and some of the subtitling is out of the image area you can get all text within the image area by select On for Auto conversion. 17

6 Menu settings with buttons cont. 6.1.6 National Audio language This menu is used to set your preference for audio language, when a TV program is broadcast in more than one language. 6.1.7 National Menu language This menu is used to set your preference for the language used in all menus in the MyM-3T. 18

6 Menu settings with buttons cont. 6.2 Advanced settings In the advanced settings menu you will find settings for Aspect ratio, Output channels, Quality, Channel indicator, Output audio type, Loopthrough, CI1 and CI2. 6.2.1 Aspect ratio (Picture format) The picture format can be set to 4:3 or 16:9 (Widescreen). If the main TV is 4:3 choose 4:3 to watch 4:3 programs in full screen and widescreen programmes (16:9) in the letterbox format where the full width of the picture is shown and the top and bottom of the picture are black. Choose 16:9 if the main TV is widescreen to watch 16:9 programmes in full screen. 6.2.2 Output channels Use this menu to choose the output frequencies for the MyM-3T. After the first installation you will find the pre set channels on VHF output at channels S11, S13 and S15 respectively. This menu allows you to choose between VHF 7 MHz(S10 to S20), VHF 8 MHz (SR8 to S40) or UHF (E21 to E69) as output channels. NOTE! To use VHF 8MHz for S21 to S41 (western Europe) you must choose one channel lower to get correct frequency i.e. S20 gives S21 for western europe frequency raster. S40 gives S41 for western europe frequency raster etc. 19

6 Menu settings with buttons cont. 6.2.3 Quality This menu is used to test the signal quality and the aerial reception quality. It may be necessary to adjust or upgrade the TV aerial to ensure good picture and sound on all channels. For more information see Chapter 8.2.3.1 Reception. The MyM-3T has an inbuilt spectrum analyser to help optimise the aerial installation. For more information see Chapter 8.2.3.2 Antenna Quality. 6.2.3.1 Reception Use this menu to measure the reception quality of each channel. If these are not optimal it is possible that the picture and sound quality will deteriorate in poor reception conditions and it may be necessary to adjust the aerial. The information refers to the 2 installed muxes for the 3 channels. The menu shows the channels numbers and frequencies of the 2 installed muxes. Good reception quality requires a strong incoming signal. For more information on the optimal signal strength see Chapter 8.2.3.2 Antenna Signal. It may be necessary to adjust the aerial for optimal signal strength. The signal quality C/N (Carrier to Noise) value is a measurement of the relationship between the aerial signal and disturbance in the channel. This should be higher than 20 db. The BER (Bit Error Rate) measures the ratio of the number of faulty bits received to the total number of bits received. The BER should be as low as possible and less than 2.00E-4 (2*10-4 ) to ensure good quality picture and sound. If all the parameters for the incoming signal are good but there are still problems with the picture or sound quality it is likely that there is a problem with the cable that connects the TV / VCR to the MyM-3T. 20

6 Menu settings with buttons cont. 6.2.5 Channel indicator The MyM Channel indicator can be switched On or Off. When the channel indicator is On, a text box with MyM 1, MyM 2 and MyM 3 will be shown in the upper right corner of the picture on the three output RF channels. After installation, channel indicators is automatically switched on for 8 hours to make it easier to do a channel search on the TV s. During normal operation, the channel indicator is Off. 6.2.6 Output audio type In this menu it s possible to choose between different Audio types like Nicam, A2 or A2*. 6.2.6.1 TV System for audio Here you select which TV system that will be selected for the sound. Most common in Western Europe is B/G. 6.2.7 Loop through In this menu you can choose whether you want the antenna signals to pass through the MyM. If you select mode "On" then the FM, VHF and UHF band to be imported and thus these signals will be available in the antenna network after the MyM. Appropriate to put in the "On" mode if the MyM is connected to a network with digital TV boxes or TV sets with built-in digital receiver. 21

6 Menu settings with buttons cont. 6.2.8 Audio setting In this menu the audio level can be adjusted between +6dB and -6dB for the three different RF outputs, Channel 1, Channel 2 and Channel 3. NOTE! You have to scroll up or down with the arrow buttons to be able to see and choose all possible settings. 22

7 Installation and configuration The MyM-3T can be installed either as a stand alone unit directly on the wall or by the use of a dedicated MyM-3T Security Wall Mount (part number 702800.10). The MyM-3T Security Wall Mount secures both the MyM-3T and CAM-modules with a locking function to avoid loss of CAM s and smart cards in public places. Before connecting power to the MyM-3T, make sure that all other connections have been made. A coaxial cable of good quality with an F-connector should be connected to the Antenna input and another one from the RF output to the SMATV network. Connect the power supply and make all necessary settings as described in section 4 and 5. Installation in MyM-3T Security Wall Mount. Accessories MyM-3T Security Wall Mount kit Art no: 702800.10 23
