What is S.M.A.R.T.? S.M.A.R.T. is a multi-sensory approach to learning, based on brain research. This program develops physiological and neurological readiness skills essential to classroom success. Practice with them how to color inside the lines. Show them how to how a pencil correctly. Teach them to write their first name. Does your child know their parent s names, address, and phone? Is your child able to sit still and listen for up to 5 minutes? Provide your child with opportunities for learning by telling them about what you are doing or how you are doing something. Give your child opportunity to demonstrate responsibility by assigning specific tasks/chores they are able to do. Count with your child by rote to 20.or even try 100! Can your child recognize the letters of the alphabet and numbers 1-10? Before doing something for them, encourage them to try on their own. Often times they are more capable than they think! Is your child able to follow three verbal directions such as: 1) Go upstairs, 2) get your shoes, 3) put them on. Manners are important. Children should display appropriate social behavior.
