PhotoVu Wall Mounting Kit * (Preliminary Mounting Instructions) PhotoVu, LLC 3090 Sterling Circle, #102C Boulder, CO 80301 USA www.photovu.com/support pv-feedback06@photovu.com *Patent Pending Version: 0.6 12.18.2009

Table of Contents Getting Started...3 Step 1: Review the Parts List...3 Step 2: Positioning, Mounting, and Wall Hole... 4 Step 3: Installing the Wall Box Outer Assembly... 5 Step 4: Running the Electrical Line... 6 Step 5: Plugging in the brick A/C adapter... 8-2-

Getting Started PhotoVu has designed a new wall box mounting system that enables a licensed electrician to recess the AC to DC power supply converter, brick, into a wall for a professional installation, free of any external or visible power cords. The PhotoVu Wall Box (PWB) is designed for typical USA-constructed residential home having standard 1/2 or 5/8 sheet rock walls with standard 2x4 spacing and hollow walls. Any other wall construction (brick, insulated, plaster, etc.) is considered non-standard for which this wall box was not designed. Finally, it is left up to the user to properly run power to the PhotoVu in a manner subject to local codes and ordinances that results in an installation that is electrically safe and free from any potential electrical shock hazards that can cause injury or death. If this wall box mounting kit and electrical box does not meet your local standards, then it should not be used. Please refer back and forth between this document and the PhotoVu mounting template. Step 1: Review the Parts List The following parts should be in your shipping box. If not, please contact PhotoVu. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Main Wall Box Back Wall Bracket (already attached to main wall box) A/C Receptacle Junction Box A/C Receptacle Bracket Assembly (your version may be slightly different) A/C brick adapter (not shown) 2-3/4 #10-32 machine screws (already inserted in Back Wall Bracket and through Main Wall Box) 7. 4 small 1/4 #4-40 screws with lock washers (not shown) 8. 4 small 3/16 #4-40 screws with undercut head (not shown) 9. 3 electrical twist-on connectors (not shown) -3-

Step 2: Positioning, Mounting, and Wall Hole 1. Using the PhotoVu mounting template that came with your PhotoVu as a ROUGH guide, locate the position of where you would like to see your PhotoVu hung on the wall. 2. Make sure that you are easily able to run electrical power to this position. For example, an outlet is located on the wall below, or a light switch is available on the wall to tap into. 3. Note that you will need to make sure that the position falls between any studs, sufficient to accommodate space for the wall box hole (4 5/8 x6 1/2 ) plus a little extra room for the wall box clamp, or about and extra ½ on either side of the hole. 4. Using the mounting template as a guide install two screws located 13 apart and level. You can use the enclosed plastic anchoring system, or if one of these attachment points is located exactly behind a wall stud, you can just use the screw without the plastic drywall anchor. 5. Rough Hole: Using a drywall saw, cut a 4 5/8 X 6 1/2 hole in your drywall. DO NOT cut the hole any bigger as it is very easy to go back and widen the hole. If unsure, cut a 4 1/2 x6 3/8 hole and then slowly widen it out a little at a time until the wall box fits snuggly into the wall. -4-

Step 3: Installing the Wall Box Outer Assembly 1. Push the Back Wall Bracket flat against the back of the outer assembly. As shipped from the factory, the screws should already be installed into the Back Wall Bracket and attached through the Main Wall Box. The ends of the 3/4 screws should be flush with the back of the wall bracket. NOTE: The attached screws will protrude out inside the Main Wall Box. This is NORMAL and will be used later to push the Back Wall Bracket behind the drywall -- DO NOT TIGHTEN OR UNSCREW THEM AT THIS TIME. 2. Push the Main Wall Box into the drywall (it should be tight) along with the attached drywall clamp. NOTE: You may need to push the Back Wall Bracket in a little bit with your hands as you push the Main Wall Box through the tight 4 5/8 X 6 1/2 opening in the wallboard. It will go into the cut-out, but will not yet be on the back of the drywall. 3. The Main Wall Box needs to go all the way flush against the wall and the Back Wall Bracket will go in as well, but will not yet be inside the back of the wall when the Main Wall Box is initially pushed in. NOTE: You may need to tap it in a little with a hammer get it flush, especially over the four (4) faceplate mounting holes which protrude out the back a bit and will prevent the assembly from sitting exactly flush against the wall. They will ultimately recess / indent into the drywall when the clamp is tightened. 4. Using your thumbs from each hand, or the light tap of a hammer, push the two screws protruding into the Main Wall Box all the way flush. This will in turn push the Back Wall Bracket through the remaining portion of the sides of the wall board and onto behind the back of the wall. 5. Screw the two Phillips screws clockwise until the Back Wall Bracket comes in contact with the back of the drywall and the Main Wall Box is flush tight against the front of the wall. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. -5-

Step 4: Running the Electrical Line 1. Push #14 standard Romex 2 wire (with ground) copper cable (2 plus ground) through the bottom of the bigger PhotoVu Wall Box, leaving about 1 ft of wire extending up and out through the Main Wall Box now clamped securely in the drywall hole. 2. Push the #14 wire through the smaller A/C receptacle junction box and its electrical clamp. 3. Strip back 4 of wire, or length sufficient enough to connect the hot, neutral and ground leads to the corresponding pigtail leads of the A/C receptacle outlet, making sure to also connect the earth ground lead to the grounding lug of the A/C receptacle bracket assembly as well as to the wire from the A/C juntion receptacle box. Secure all wires with the three twist nut connectors. 4. Slide the extra #14 Romex cable back out of the bottom of the smaller A/C receptacle junction box, while at the same time, pushing and sliding the AC receptacle bracket assembly down into -6-

the smaller AC receptacle junction box. Hold with your hand. NOTE: In order to form a tight junction box, the A/C receptacle Bracket Assembly is very snug inside the A/C Receptacle Junction Box. In order to first get it inside, you must insert the A/C Bracket Assembly in at slight angle to clear the back of the rivets which protude slightly into the outer A/C receptacle box. 5. With the A/C bracket assembly manually pushed flush to the A/C receptacle junction box, all slack and extra Romex will be removed from inside A/C receptacle junction box and you can now tighten the two screws of the Romex clamp connector at the bottom of the A/C receptacle junction box. 6. Slide the A/C receptacle junction box, along with the A/C receptacle Bracket Assembly down into the bottom hole of the Main Wall Box, feeding the extra Romex wire back into the wall. You will have to initially slide the box at a slight angle to get it started into the hole, but after about 1/2 you can push it straight down. Also, there maybe a little resistance from the Romex wire as it is pushed down and back into the wall, but with the Romex securely clamped at the bottom of the A/C receptacle junction, this should not be a problem. 7. Finally, secure the A/C receptacle junction box and A/C bracket assembly onto the Main Wall Box with the four small 1/4 #4-40 Phillips head screws with built-in lock-washers. You will need a long #1 phillips head screwdriver to tighten them. -7-

Step 5: Plugging in the brick A/C adapter 1. Note: Your wall box A/C brick adapter and A/C adapter plug may be different as compared to what are shown in the photos above. The installation procedure is the same. 2. Plug in A/C power supply adapter plug first. The A/C brick adapter will not be able to fit into the wall box with this adapter attached to it. NOTE: Make sure to hold it just by the female end. You will have to reach in a pretty long way with your fingers as it's a pretty far down there. 3. Once the plug adapter is installed, simply plug the A/C brick power supply on top of it. Leave the DC cord side dangling down the wall. -8-

Step 6: Installing the Face Plate 1. Roll the DC cord up and tuck it on either side of the brick power supply inside the completed and installed PhotoVu Wall Box. 2. Thread the DC cord portion through the top hole in the face place, leaving a few inched outside and then secure the faceplate with the four 3/16 4-40 screws (undercut head with no lockwashers) to the installed PhotoVu Main Wall Box. Your installation is complete. It's now time to hang your PhotoVu! -9-
