NOTES TO EDITORS Environmental Info Sony is engaged in a constant review of its manufacturing, operational and business practices to ensure that its products are developed in an environmentally responsible way. This approach can broadly be divided into three areas: Environmental Information: 3Ps Power consumption in the most power efficient of the three stand-by modes of the HX/HXD series is only 0.75 watt. Halogenated materials may pose a risk to the environment if disposed of improperly. To minimize this risk for the HX/HXD series, almost all parts, including the printed circuit boards, are halogen-free. To meet the requirements for recycling, all parts used in the production of the HX/HXD series are easily separable, and in comparison to last year s models, there is now 5% less time needed to separate the parts for recycling and more than 50% of all parts can be recycled. Recycled materials are used for the packaging, such as cartons and inside materials, which protect the Hard Disk Drive recorders during transport. The instruction manual is printed on recycled paper. Sony is determined to lead the way as a responsible manufacturer. As a company we are focussing on three key areas of investment: 1. Reducing CO 2 gas emissions 2. Increasing the percentage of renewable energy used in our manufacturing facilities 3. Minimising the resources used by our factories in manufacturing For more information, please contact: Maja Hauke, Sony Europe Maja.Hauke@eu.sony.com / +44 (0)1932 817383 About Sony Sony manufactures audio, video, communications and information technology products for the global consumer and professional markets.
