Cassinga Castelo do Mar Hotel Pomene Bay A modern, brand new catamaran of 40 feet. Built to handle the strong winds of South Africa. Cruising speed is 9knots (sail or motor) with the possibility of much more given the right wind. When under sail, the only noise you will hear is the wind and the ocean. Finally, you can dive southern Mozambique in comfort, enjoying hot drinks, showers and refreshments between dives, the envy of all on the bumpy and wet ridged inflatable boats which are the mainstay of diving in the region! During humpback whale season from July to November sailing and diving gets even more special as whales are not disturbed by motor noises. 4 In the Inhanbane Bay, Castelo do Mar is a special and comfortable Hotel most easily accessed by boat. The food is excellent and the friendly staff are always ready to assist you. The view of the Bay is particularly spectacular during sunset when you might see big groups of flamingos flying back to their nesting areas. Castelo do Mar Hotel is also full of history, until the early 20 th centaury, it was a whaling station, now it is an active partner in whale research and conservation. The beautiful buildings have been modernized and expanded to provide a luxurious and tranquil hide away on the Indian Ocean. Only accessible by 4x4 or boat, Pomene bay is one of those picturesque places stopped in time. Pomene Lodge is strategically located at the end of a narrow peninsula. It has a large estuary with stunning mangrove trees on one side and the beautiful colours of the Indian Ocean on the other. The diving is always private, manta rays, sharks, humpback whales and whale sharks might be seeing while diving and sailing. For the macro lovers, the estuary and the reefs are always full of surprises, with an amazing diversity of nudibranchs, pipefish, and many other inquisitive creatures.
