Part-time programme Diploma in Advanced Business & Executive Coaching
INTRODUCTION Coaches and consultants are keen to find new and deeper ways to understand and work with their clients. This in turn is producing a great deal of interest in what is increasingly called The Psychological Dimension of Coaching. In our view it is both unnecessary and unrealistic to expect business coaches to undertake lengthy psychological training as part of their overall development. Nevertheless, many executive coaches are recognising a need to know more and to be more skilled in the psychological and emotional dimensions to coaching issues. In supervision sessions with coaches we regularly hear comments such as, there was something not quite right but I didn t know what it was, or I really didn t know what I was dealing with. The question of where is the boundary between coaching and counselling? is regularly asked by coaches in training and by more experienced practitioners. Many coaches experience an urgent need for more knowledge and more skills. With this in mind, we, in collaboration with PB Coaching have designed a programme to address this. Our programme is unique in that it provides key psychological theory and practice for coaching practitioners. It also addresses the personal development needs of the coach. Who is this programme for? This programme typically attracts the following: Practising business coaches who want to develop their theoretical understanding of, and capability to work with, the psychological aspects of coaching Internal HR Directors or Training/OD Consultants, with a coaching background, who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the psychological aspects of coaching Chartered/Occupational Psychologists who have a coaching background and who want to enhance their capacity to work with the psychological aspects of coaching Line Managers with a coaching background, who wish to enhance their capacity to work with the psychological aspects of coaching Retiring executives, who have a coaching background, and wish to expand their portfolio of consultancy by working with the psychological aspects of coaching Coaches from a related professional background such as counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, business psychology etc. who wish to further develop their capacity to work with the psychological aspects of coaching What will I get from this programme? The programme provides the theory, skills and both the personal and professional development required for the coach to address the psychological aspect of the coachee s agenda. Participants will critically evaluate key theories and concepts and address best ethical practice. There is a strong focus on coach practice sessions with a psychological focus, including regular opportunities for observed coach practice, with feedback from peers and tutors.
