Home team and Visiting Team will share a sideline, opposite fans. Coaches will stress importance to players and parents of proper behavior (including addressing officiating) at all contests. ONLY coaches and captains will address officials. As per UIL guidelines: 1. Athletic officials are seldom given the appreciation deserved. They are the persons delegated the responsibility and authority to enforce the Rules of the Game. By doing so, they provide for fairness among players and for their safety. Each year approximately 10,000 Officials register with the Texas Association of Sports Officials, take the required examination, and attend Association conducted Rules Meetings. Officials for school athletic contests are selected by the schools involved and both schools must agree to accept the officials prior to the start of the game. 2. We must remember that these are middle school athletes performing. They are friendly rivals, not enemies. Friendly competition is the theme of interschool sports. Visiting teams and fans are guests of the home school. Fans, Players, and Coaches need to show courtesy and good sportsmanship. 3. All spectators, no matter which team they are backing, must show sportsmanship. The contests provide a showcase for the talents and skills of the students from each school through friendly competition, which is the theme of all interscholastic events. The performances seen are the result of many hours of preparation. The teams have worked hard for entertainment and appreciation. We encourage fans to show good sportsmanship through the cheers, the applause, and good sportsmanship. These students and their coaches, represent their school with pride and honor. 4. The game will be conducted according to the rules of the University Interscholastic League. The officials will be selected with the consent of both schools, and their rulings need to be respected by all. 5. Spectators are not allowed on the field until players and officials have had an opportunity to leave after the game. 6. Failure to abide by these guidelines, will result in removal from field. *An athlete should not miss an LISD sporting event to attend a club event (any sport). If an athlete does miss an LISD sporting event because of a club event, the penalty should be the same as an unexcused practice or game. *
