JULIE AUSTIN, ASSOCIATE, MCDOWELL PURCELL SOLICITORS As an employment law specialist, Julie advises employers and employees on all aspects of the employment relationship. With significant experience in all forms of employment disputes, including unfair / wrongful dismissal, applications to restrain dismissals, discrimination, redundancies (both individual and collective) and industrial relations, Julie provides pragmatic and commercial advice to her clients. A large part of Julie s work includes providing advice to HR functions on day to day matters including issues arising from stress in the workplace, bullying and harassment and carrying out disciplinary and grievance procedures. She also has extensive experience in the drafting and review of employment contracts, handbooks and HR policies and procedures ANNA BRODERICK, PARTNER, EVERSHEDS Anna is a solicitor with Eversheds and works primarily in employment law. Anna has substantial experience of advisory and contentious HR matters and she has worked extensively on preparing recruitment policies, contracts of employment and drafting HR policies for international clients. Anna also has experience in industrial relations matters, health and safety, data protection and immigration issues. CLAIRE BRUTON BL Claire Bruton BL is a practising barrister specialising in employment law. She acts regularly for employers and employees in claims before the Workplace Relations Commission, Employment Appeals Tribunal, Labour Court and the civil courts. She is the co-author of Employment Equality Law (2012) and The Irish Legal System (2014) and is editor of the Employment Law Reports and Irish Employment Law Journal.

CLARE CASHIN, PARTNER, PHILIP LEE SOLICITORS Clare has recently joined Philip Lee in 2015 from one of the top 5 law firms in Dublin. Clare practices in both contentious and non-contentious construction law, advising employers, contractors, designers, public authorities and private entities. She specialises in dispute resolution and health and safety law. Clare has over 10 years experience in high value complex disputes. Her litigation experience ranges from High Court to Commercial Court, from Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court. She has repeatedly managed judicial review challenges to high value procurement decisions issued by state authorities. MAURA CONNOLLY, PARTNER, EUGENE F.COLLINS Maura Connolly is a partner and head of the firm's Employment Law group. She advises employers and employees on all aspects of the employment relationship including contentious and non-contentious matters. Maura is experienced in civil litigation and has represented clients in employment tribunals and before industrial relations bodies. She has been involved in many commercial transactions and has considerable experience of employment issues arising in the context of mergers and acquisitions. MELANIE CROWLEY, PARTNER, MASON HAYES & CURRAN Melanie is a partner in the Employment Law and Benefits team with Mason Hayes & Curran. She is involved in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law on both the employer and employee side. Melanie is also a regular attendee and speaker at international employment law conferences run by the American Bar Association, the American Employment Law Council and the UK s Employment Lawyers Association. Melanie is involved in the teaching and examining of the employment course in the Law Society of Ireland where she acts as the external examiner in employment law. Melanie s clients include Facebook, Skillsoft, Symantec, Twitter, Yahoo! and Western Union.

MARYROSE DILLON, IN-HOUSE SOLICITOR, UCC Maryrose joined UCC Academy Limited in January 2015 as In House Solicitor. UCC Academy is a wholly owned subsidiary of University College Cork ("UCC") which was incorporated to promote the interests of UCC and to deliver a number of projects to UCC. Prior to joining UCC Academy, Maryrose specialised in employment law. Maryrose trained with William Fry in Dublin and, on qualification in 2007, joined William Fry's Employment Department. Maryrose has advised employers and employees on all aspects of employment law. CAOIMHE HEERY, SOLICITOR, RONAN DALY JERMYN Caoimhe Heery works as a solicitor in the Employment Department of RDJ Glynn, having joined in 2012. Caoimhe trained in a specialist trade union law firm in the United Kingdom, initially focusing on litigation and then employment law, she completed her legal training March 2007. Caoimhe returned to Ireland in August 2007 when she joined a leading Dublin firm. Caoimhe provides advice on all areas of employment law including wrongful and unfair dismissal, bullying and harassment claims, equality, industrial relations and redundancy procedures. She also gives HR professionals practical and commercially focused advice on their day to day issues including grievance and disciplinary procedures. JOANNE HYDE, PARTNER, EVERSHEDS Joanne is a Partner and Head of the Employment Law Unit at Eversheds. She is a pragmatic and business focused employment lawyer. Her experience as in-house employment lawyer for Intel Corporation, one of Ireland s leading multinational employers has given her a strong insight into the HR concerns and complexities facing clients. In addition, Joanne has many years experience advising both international and indigenous clients on a wide range of employment and industrial relations issues. Her comprehensive experience includes advising on employment law challenges arising from commercial transactions, employment disputes and litigation as well as providing strategic and proactive advice on HR issues.

GERALDINE HYNES, SOLICITOR, ACCREDITED MEDIATOR & LEGAL CONSULTANT Geraldine Hynes is a solicitor and mediator with substantial experience in general practice, equality and employment law. She is a member and past chairperson of the Employment and Equality Law Committee of the Law Society and was also a founding committee member of the Employment Law Association of Ireland. In 2010, Geraldine became a civil and commercial mediator, training with Friary Law and later at the Kennedy Institute, NUIM where she specialised in workplace mediation. She is an accredited member of the Mediators Institute of Ireland and she now provides consultancy services to private and organisational clients in workplace dispute resolution, including mediation, investigations and appeals. While working with the Equality Authority, Geraldine acted in many ground-breaking cases from tribunal to superior court level and presented to EU institutions, judicial studies forums and international lawyers organizations. DUNCAN INVERARITY, PARTNER, A&L GOODBODY Duncan Inverarity was educated at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He completed an economics degree in 1986 and a law degree in 1990. He has practised in the area of employment and industrial relations law since qualifying in 1990, initially as a solicitor and then as a barrister. He has written chapters for legal texts and has written and presented a number of papers on employment-related topics as well as lecturing both to members of the legal profession and to students of law. ELAINE KELLY, PARTNER, BYRNE WALLACE Elaine Kelly is a Partner in the Employment Department. She has extensive experience in employment, industrial relations and equality law. Elaine advises both public sector and private clients on a broad range of employment and equality issues. Elaine provides both external and internal training to clients, has lectured on the Law Society professional education and diploma programmes and has spoken at conferences for bodies such as Legal Island, the Institute for Certified Public Accountants and the LGMSB.

SARAH LAWN, ASSOCIATE, MASON HAYES & CURRAN Sarah Lawn, LLB, LLM, Dip Emp Law is an Associate in the Employment Law & Benefits Team in Mason Hayes & Curran Solicitors, Dublin. Sarah advises employers and employees on all aspects of employment, industrial relations and health and safety law. Sarah is the legal advisor on employment law matters to a wide range of clients including senior executives, start-ups, public bodies and large domestic and multi-national employers. These clients represent a wide variety of industries including mining, oil and gas, life sciences, information technology, retail and project management. DEIRDRE LYNCH, ASSOCIATE, BYRNE WALLACE Deirdre Lynch is an Associate in the Employment Department. She has over a decade s experience as an employment law specialist advising employers in relation to both contentious and non-contentious issues. Deirdre has developed a particular expertise in contentious employment matters. She has substantial experience in defending claims brought by employees including, claims of discrimination and unfair dismissal. She frequently represents clients without counsel in contentious matters before the employment tribunals. ANNE LYNE, PARTNER, HAYES SOLICITORS Anne is a partner with the Employment team at Hayes solicitors. She has considerable experience advising and representing employers and employees on all aspects of the employment relationship from pre-employment matters to termination. Anne also advises on administrative law, industrial relations, data protection, health & safety and immigration. Anne has specialist knowledge particularly in relation to equality as it relates to the employment relationship.

CATHY MAGUIRE BL Cathy Maguire was called to the bar in 1994 and specialises in the area of Labour and Employment Law. CATHAL MCGREAL BL Cathal McGreal BCL was called to the bar in 2000 and specialises in the area of Labour and Employment Law. PAULA MURPHY, SOLICITOR, DANIEL SPRING & COMPANY Paula Murphy qualified in 1994 and has worked in general practice since then whilst specialising in employment law and personal injury litigation. Paula has acted for clients in criminal cases and also before Tribunals of Inquiry. She has lectured for the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland addressing solicitors on employment law issues. Daniel Spring & Company is a medium sized firm in Dublin with 11 solicitors. The firm covers a broad range of areas. It specialises in employment law, personal injury litigation, family law and medical negligence claims. It has acted for a number of trade unions and provides a broad range of services for union members including advice on accidents at work, car accidents, probate matters and conveyancing.

RONNIE NEVILLE, PARTNER, MASON HAYES & CURRAN Ronnie Neville is a partner in Mason Hayes & Curran s Employment Law and Benefits Team, advising public and private sector employers on both contentious and noncontentious matters. Ronnie develops strong working relationships at the highest level with clients and provides strategic advice on restructuring, re-organisation and general employment related matters. He regularly appears in various employment law fora, including the Rights Commissioner Service, the Equality Tribunal, the Labour Court, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Circuit Court and the High Court. ANNE O CONNELL, PARTNER, SHERWIN O RIORDAN Anne qualified as a solicitor in 2001. She joins Sherwin O'Riordan as partner and head of our Employment Law Department, having specialised in the area of Employment Law for a Top 5 Firm for over 10 years. Anne holds an LLB together with Diplomas in Employment Law and International Arbitration. She is also qualified as a New York Attorney. Clients describe her as "professional, engaging and very consistent in her approach", praising her advice as "sound and pragmatic". CATHERINE ELLEN O KEEFE, SOLICITOR, RONAN DALY JERMYN Catherine-Ellen has recently joined Ronan Daly Jermyn s Employment Team having worked as an Employment Associate at a large Dublin commercial firm. She advises a broad spectrum of clients including multinationals and SME s from different industry sectors such as pharma, retail, construction and media. Catherine-Ellen s day to day work involves advising and supporting HR managers and in-house management on everyday workplace issues from the recruitment stage of the employment relationship to advising on employees statutory entitlements and providing strategic advice on termination of employment.

GAIL O KEEFFE, PARTNER, O CONNOR SOLICITORS Gail specialises in Administrative Law and Regulation, litigation, including employment law, medical negligence claims and the defence of claims on behalf of insurers. She also advises public bodies, companies, Boards of Management and private clients on commercial law matters. Gail is an accredited mediator with CEDR. MAEVE REGAN, SOLICITOR Maeve Regan BCL LLM is managing solicitor of Mercy Law Resource Centre. Maeve is the General Editor and co-author of Employment Law (Tottel Publishing, Bloomsbury Professional, 2009) and Consultant Editor of the new edition of Employment Law due to be published by Bloomsbury Professional in 2016. Maeve graduated from University College Dubllin with a BCL in 1999 and an LLM in 2000. Maeve trained as a solicitor with Arthur Cox and upon qualification joined the Arthur Cox Employment Department. While working with the Department, Maeve graduated with a Diploma in Employment Law from UCD. While editing and co-authoring Employment Law, Maeve worked on a consultancy basis for Arthur Cox as a professional support lawyer to the Employment Department. Maeve lectures and tutors and is an examiner on the Law Society Employment Law Diploma. BARRY REYNOLDS, PARTNER, DAC BEACHCROFT DUBLIN Barry leads the DAC Beachcroft Dublin employment team. He provides both contentious and non-contentious employment and industrial relations advice. Barry works with employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, from recruitment to termination. He advises employers and insurers across various sectors including: retail and leisure; technology; financial institutions; facilities management; distribution; pharmaceutical; and, the public service. Barry's practice includes investigations, grievance and disciplinary issues, severance, discrimination, worker status, atypical working and policies and procedures. He advises employers on organisational change including at executive level and on collective issues.

DES RYAN, LECTURER IN LAW, TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN Dr. Desmond Ryan LL.B., B.C.L., M.A. (Oxon.), Ph.D., Barrister-at-Law (King s Inns) is a Lecturer in Law at Trinity College Dublin and a practising Barrister specialising in Employment Law. He lectures in Tort Law, Employment Law (LL.B.) and Employment Litigation (LL.M.). and his research interests are primarily in the areas of Employment Law and Tort Law. Having graduated with First Class Honours and a Gold Medal in Law from Trinity College Dublin (LL.B.), he pursued graduate studies in Law at the University of Oxford, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.), graduating with Distinction, and the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.). He received an Ussher scholarship at Trinity College Dublin to pursue his Ph.D. thesis, completed in 2009 and for which he was awarded his Doctorate. He also studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, and at the Honorable Society of King s Inns, Dublin. BOYCE SHUBOTHAM, PARTNER, WILLIAM FRY Boyce Shubotham is a partner with William Fry and is head of and founded the firm's Employment Law Unit. He was admitted as solicitor in 1980, having studied at University College Dublin. He is a member of both the Law Society's Employment Law Committee and the European Employment Lawyers Association. In addition he is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Boyce frequently lectures to solicitors and human resource managers on employment issues. He advises both companies and senior executives on potentially contentious matters. Boyce has considerable experience representing clients before the High Court, Labour Court, Labour Relations Commission, Equality Authority and Employment Appeals Tribunal. He is described in Legal 500, law firms in Europeas "a fine employment litigator". PHILIP SMITH, PARTNER, ARTHUR COX Philip Smith is a partner in Arthur Cox where he specialises in Pensions Law and Charity Law. Philip originally qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and holds practising certificates in both Ireland and Northern Ireland. Philip advises on all aspects of pension schemes both in advising trustees and employers on day to day administration, restructuring, merger, amendment and in relation to corporate transactions. As coordinating partner of Arthur Cox s Charity Law Group, he advises on the issues affecting charitable and not-for-profit organisations and their Directors/Trustees including preparation of governing documents, assistance with applications for Revenue charity status, and advice on governance issues and fundraising.

TRIONA SUGRUE, SOLICITOR, EUGENE F. COLLINS Tríona Sugrue, has extensive experience in all aspects of employment law. She regularly represents both employers and employees in employment disputes; advises on contractual matters between employers and employees; investigations, grievance and disciplinary matters; and also has considerable experience in advising on employment issues arising in the context of commercial transactions. Tríona has made presentations on employment law to a number of bodies and has contributed articles to many publications relating to employment law. PATRICK WALSHE, PARTNER, PHILIP LEE Patrick Walshe is a partner in Philip Lee and is head of the firm s Employment Law Department. He advises a wide range of clients in both the public and private sectors. Patrick s experience in non-contentious employment law ranges from drafting contracts of employment and employment policies to advising on industrial relations disputes. He also advises clients in relation to health and safety issues, transfers of undertakings, equality issues and independent contractor arrangements. His experience in contentious employment law runs from prosecuting and defending Employment Appeals Tribunal claims, participating in Labour Relations Commission conciliations to litigating cases in the courts. It includes advising in relation to bullying and harassment claims, internal disciplinary investigations and unfair/wrongful dismissal claims. EMMET WHELAN, ASSOCIATE, BYRNE WALLACE Emmet Whelan is an Associate in our employment department advising on all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious.
