Translated using google translate this may not read perfectly but we hope you can understand the main point of the message: Staffing within The Samuel Lister Academy Here at Samuel Lister Academy we have a House system with vertical tutoring in place. Each House has a Head of House and a House Leader attached to them. The Houses are named after innovative and inspirational people Farah, Jackson, King and Mandela. King House Mr Hussain Martin Luther King Jr. was an American clergyman, activist, and leader in the African American Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience. Farah House Mr Balla Mohamed "Mo" Farah, CBE is the current 10,000 metres Olympic champion and 5000 metres Olympic, World and European champion. Jackson House Ms Kirton Valerie Jackson founded Stage 84 in 1984. The school has become one of the most successful schools of performing arts in the North of England. In December 2009 Valerie was awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Years Honours List, for services to the arts in the North of England. Mandela House Mr Khan Nelson Mandela was born into the Madiba clan in Mvezo, Transkei, on July 18, 1918, and became the founder of the apartheid movement. He became President of the Republic of South Africa in 1994.
