Quick Start Operation Series 98/98E DBS/DTH Systems 1. FIRST, turn ON the Satellite Receiver and the TV monitor. 2. Press the Antenna Control Panel POWER key to turn power to the pedestal ON: Wait 10 to 90 seconds while the antenna initializes itself and automatically acquires the satellite signal. When the antenna is tracking a good satellite signal the TRACKING lamp will be illuminated steady green. If there is no TV picture, check to see if the satellite signal is blocked by the ship s structure or other obstruction. Also confirm that the Satellite Receiver is set up correctly (see the Satellite Receiver manual). It is also possible that the antenna is tracking the wrong satellite, in which case go to Step 3. 3. To choose a different satellite: On the Sea Tel Antenna Control Panel press the NEXT key. The antenna will automatically search for and, within 10 to 30 seconds, acquire a signal from an adjacent satellite. If it is not the desired satellite, press the NEXT key again. 4. On European/Linear systems, maximize the received signal level shown on the receiver setup menu by adjusting the antenna polarization with the UP and DOWN arrow keys. When the UNWRAP lamp is illuminated steady yellow it indicates that the antenna has reached an end stop and is automatically returning to a central operating position. The TV signal will be lost for approximately 30 seconds while the antenna completes its unwrap operation. 5. Once the desired primary or secondary satellite has been acquired as in Step 3 above, future start-ups of the system will be easier by pressing and holding the SAVE key for 6 seconds to save the ID code and position of each satellite. See the Operation Manual for details.
ANTENNA CONTROL PANEL FUNCTIONS + + TRACKING LED UNWRAP LED Turns DC power to the Pedestal ON. Both panel LED s illuminate for 5 seconds to indicate INITIALIZATION is in process. Press again to turn DC power to the Pedestal OFF. Press to switch between primary and secondary satellites or search for the next satellite. Press and hold for 6 seconds to clear previously saved primary and secondary satellite ID codes and positions. In Operation Mode, press and HOLD for 6 seconds to save the current satellite ID code, position and polarization. In SETUP Mode, press to save changes to the selected parameter. In SETUP Mode, press and HOLD for 6 seconds to save all parameters and exit SETUP Mode. Moves elevation angle UP one degree per momentary key press. This also exits SETUP mode without permanently saving any parameter changes Press to moves elevation angle DOWN one degree per momentary key press. Press and hold for 6 seconds to access SETUP mode (See manual for details). Moves polarization angle UP one degree per momentary key press (Euro/Linear systems only). Moves polarization angle DOWN one degree per momentary key press (Euro/Linear systems only). ON steady indicates that the antenna is tracking a satellite signal. Flashing indicates that the satellite signal is too low, tracking has been lost. LED is OFF during SEARCH or UNWRAP. ON steady indicates antenna in cable UNWRAP. Flashing indicates antenna is searching for a satellite signal.
