Strengths This Department can be lifted up to the level of a diagnostic and research centre, which cater the needs of the public. Weaknesses Lack of permanent faculty and technical staff members are hinders the smooth functioning of the department. Laboratories are not modernised to the contemporary needs. Opportunities The passes out students from the department get opportunities in the various Institutions in and outside State and abroad. Challenges Lack of permanent staff members in the three departments under the school is the major challenge. Department of programmes and body fluid analysis cannot be fulfilled due to shortage of adequate funds. 52. Future plans of the department: A post graduate diploma course in laboratory medicine of one year duration for post graduates in, Biochemistry and Laboratory Technology, under the Faculty of Medicine has already been proposed. A short term workshop for training the junior Laboratory Technologist for improving the technical competency in various branches of clinical laboratory is proposed.
