Dr Roger Sellek Chief Executive Officer EMEA & Asia-Pacific Roger Sellek is based in London and oversees s ratings, information services and news businesses throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining, Roger was commercial director for Lloyd s of London for six years, responsible for the market s strategic business relationships with its investor base, brokers, the rating agencies and the financial analyst community. Shortly after joining Lloyd s, Roger was appointed head of commercial policy and subsequently became managing director of Lloyd s Market Risk Unit, where he directed the development and application of the market s risk-based capital system. He had earlier worked as a consultant to the Equitas Project, assuming management responsibility for the analysis of all non-aph liabilities. In addition to 15 years of extensive experience and achievement in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, Roger has a long academic background, graduating with a BSc in mathematical physics from the University of Exeter and with a PhD three years later. Roger also holds an MBA in strategic management from Imperial College at the University of London and carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Cambridge. He has worked in a number of academic positions in the United Kingdom and overseas, including as a lecturer in applied mathematics at the University of Sydney, Australia. Stefan Holzberger Managing Director, Analytics EMEA Stefan Holzberger joined in 2001 in the U.S. as a financial analyst in the property/casualty rating division. In 2004, he assumed the position of assistant vice president responsible for the ratings of roughly 100 excess and surplus lines and specialty insurance organizations. In 2008, Stefan s responsibilities shifted to the development and dissemination of rating criteria and methodology, as well as regulatory policy development. Currently, Stefan is managing director of analytics at Europe Rating Services Limited, where he is responsible for ratings coverage in the European, African and Middle Eastern markets. Stefan s insurance career started at the Jefferson Insurance Group, a specialty lines writer and subsidiary of Allianz SE. He began as an internal auditor and later became the audit manager responsible for internal audits, as well as monitoring the financial strength and internal controls of the group s managing general agents and third-party claims administrators. Stefan received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and an MBA in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Michel M. Liès Group Chief Executive Officer Swiss Re Michel M. Liès was appointed Swiss Re s Group Chief Executive Officer in February 2012. From 2011 to 2012, Michel was Chairman Global Partnerships. In this role, he focused on building and deepening long-term relationships with public sector stakeholders, governments and NGOs, with a particular focus on emerging markets. Innovative insurance solutions and public-private partnerships are vital to help society create effective responses to major risks, including natural catastrophes, climate change and food security as well as infrastructure, healthcare and longevity. Prior to becoming Chairman Global Partnerships, Michel served as Swiss Re s Head Client Markets, where he was in charge of all client relationships worldwide, and was a member of the Group s Executive Committee from 2005. Before that he was Head of Europe Division from 2000 and Head of Latin America Division from 1998. He has built up a wealth of experience in the areas of life and non-life (re)insurance from the various roles he has held since he joined Swiss Re in 1978. Having worked in various countries in Europe and Latin America, Michel is fluent in French, English, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. He is a member of the Swiss Re Advisory Panel. Carlos Wong-Fupuy Senior Director, Analytics Based in s London office, Carlos Wong-Fupuy oversees the rating and reporting on insurance companies established in Europe and Africa, as well as life insurers. Prior to assuming his current role, Carlos was responsible for ratings in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region. Before joining in 2004, Carlos spent four years in actuarial roles in PwC and the Pearl Group. This followed six years with the insurance regulator in Peru, where he was responsible for the life sector. Carlos holds a Master of Science in actuarial science from City University, London, and a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, Lima. He also did post-graduate studies in economics at Pontificia Universidad Catolica, Lima. Catherine Thomas Director, Analytics Catherine Thomas is a Director in s London office. She is responsible for managing the team of analysts that follow a number of global reinsurers and non-life insurance companies in the United Kingdom, including London market companies. Prior to joining in 2006, Catherine worked at Jardine Lloyd Thompson, where she spent three years as an insurance company analyst in its market security department. Catherine began her insurance career as an analyst at Arium Risk Architecture, a risk modeling consultancy. Nick Charteris-Black Managing Director, Market Development EMEA Nick Charteris-Black joined in February 2008 and is responsible for the company s commercial development in the EMEA region, including strategy, business development, client management, PR and market research. Nick also has management responsibility for the company s representative office in Dubai (DIFC) and the development of s Information Services business in EMEA. Nick also serves on the boards of s Londonbased subsidiaries. Prior to joining, Nick was head of capital and broker relationships at Lloyd s, responsible for strategic relationship management with Lloyd s major capital providers, new entrants and leading international broking firms. Nick has previously worked for both a large international broker and (re)insurer in a variety of senior roles, as part of a career of more than 25 years in the sector. Henning Ludolphs Managing Director, Retrocessions & Capital Markets Hannover Re Henning Ludolphs was named to head up Hannover Re s recently formed Retrocessions & Capital Markets division in July 2014. This new division consolidated the Hannover Re unit in charge of buying retrocession cover with its Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) department. Henning was placed in charge of Hannover Re s ILS unit in 2008, with a business focus on the transfer of third-party reinsurance risks into the capital markets and the ILS investment model. Risk transfer activities since 2011 have included life and non-life business. Henning first joined Hannover Re in 1989, when he began working with a South Africa subsidiary. He returned to Germany and became involved with the company s North America treaty underwriting. From 1991, his focus was on structured reinsurance transactions in the United States and subsequently international business. In 2002, Henning became managing director of Hannover Re s non-life companies in Ireland, which at the time were the flagship carriers for the company s Advance Solutions business group. 14.0415D7
Steven Chirico, CPA Assistant Vice President Steve Chirico is an assistant vice president in the property/casualty rating division of the Co. Steve is responsible for managing a team of analysts with portfolios of commercial and alternative risk insurers and reinsurers. As a manager, he meets regularly with companies in his division and reviews financial and management information on an ongoing basis. Steve also performs industry studies and departmental projects, and contributes to publications and seminars. Prior to joining, Steve held financial management positions with Continental Insurance Company and Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Steve began his career with Deloitte, where as an audit senior, he concentrated on the audits of property/casualty insurers and reinsurers. Combined, his experience represents more than 20 years of increasingly responsible positions within the property/casualty insurance industry.
