Additional Information Relevant Projects Education and Training Studies and Evaluation (In alphabetic order) 2002-2004 Antizipationsmechanismen und Qualitätssicherung in der österreichischen Berufsbildung (Models of Anticipation of Qualifications and Quality Assurance in the Austrian Vocational Education System) Researcher: Claudia Plaimauer contributed to the analysis of methods for early skills recognition used in Austria. A major quality characteristic of the Austrian VET system is the orientation on current economical and technological developments and on labor market needs. An ongoing anticipation of qualifications and labor market developments is therefore a necessary measurement. In this study the focus was on basic political and economical structures and functions of the Austrian labor market and qualification system, which could prevent skill gaps. - Results published as Lassnig, Lorenz/ Markowitsch, Jörg (Hrsg): Qualität durch Vorausschau. Antizipationsmechanismen und Qualitätssicherung in der österreichischen Berufsbildung, Innsbruck/ Wien et al: Studienverlag 2005. 2004-2007 Leonardo da Vinci: Pilot Project: European Dictionary on Skills and Competences (DISCO) - Agreement number: A04/B/F/PP-158.114 URL: http://www.skills-translator.net/ 2004-2006: Project Coordinator 2007: consultant for terminology The DISCO project intended to provide terminological support for European transparency tools: a multilingual thesaurus on vocational skills and competencies, that is at the same time comprehensive, multilingual (EN, DE, FR, HU, CZ, LT), publicly available, accessible to nonexperts and experts alike, and offers a variety of navigational options. All concepts in the area of vocational abilities were considered, independent of their manner of acquisition (formally, informally acquired, innate) or their visibility on the labour market and independent of any judgements about their importance.
