Website Creator To access the Website Creator, click Website Creator on the My Website menu. The Website Creator shows the live view of your website, and allows you to click into the sections you wish to edit in order to edit in-line. The green gears denote editable sections. Click in the section to edit. Clicking in the site will open a text editor. Add your content in the editor. Click Save when you have added your information.
This editor allows you to format text as well as to insert images, video, and items from your eportfolio. To insert an item from your eportfolio, click the Insert menu option, and select From eportfolio on the dropdown that appears. Click the checkbox on the item(s) you wish to insert, and then click Insert Selected to insert the items into your website. The inserted item will appear as a link in the Editor. When you have finished editing the page, click Save to save and close the editor.
The Website Editor, found on the right side of the page, contains the controls for a number of website functions.
To move within your site s pages, use the Find a Page drop down at the top of the editor. This drop down will display all of the pages contained in your website. Click the title of the page you wish to work with to jump to that page. Click Terms of Use to view and agree to the SAS Website Creator Terms of Use. Your SAS Website has a unique link that you can share with students, parents, or others who may wish to visit your site. To get your link, click Get Shareable Link and copy and paste the link from the pop up that appears.
To add additional web pages to your Website, click Add Web Page. After adding a Title, determine whether you want the page to show on your website menu (this will usually be Yes, unless you want to hide this page from your users), and whether the page should be enabled or not. Choose to enable the page when you are ready for people to be able to visit this page. Finally, select a Parent page. If this page should be a parent page, do not make any selections in this box. Click Save to create your new page. Note: Parent pages and subpages denote how your site is organize. You may teach multiple subjects, and might wish to make a Parent page for each subject (i.e. Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry). Within these pages, you may wish to add a page for various topics or units. These would be the subpages, and you would add them by selecting the appropriate subject as the Parent page.
To edit the Header, the decorative section at the top of the page, click Edit Header. Select a new image and click Save. To change the background of your website, click Edit Website.
This section allows you to change the Font, the Background Color, and the Background Pattern. Click Save once you have made your selections to apply them to your website. The final button on the Website Editor section of the toolbar toggles your site online and offline. The display shows the current state of your site. Click it to take it on or offline. Click Yes to change the online status of your website. The bottom section of the toolbar shows your Page Editor options. Use these options to work with individual pages within your website. Click the Page is Online (Offline) button to toggle your page on or offline. Click the Menu Link: Yes (No) button to add or remove an individual page from your website Menu.
Click Webpage Order to change the order in which your webpages display on your menu. Click the green arrows to move the pages up and down. Click Close when you are happy with your webpage order. To choose a new parent page for your webpage, click the Move Page drop down. Select the new parent page. This will move your webpage to the new location in the menu and the Find a Page dropdown. Click Close Editor to exit the Website Creator.
