PARISH 3 YEAR PASTORAL PLAN: 2014-2015-2016 INTRODUCTION MISSION STATEMENT CORE VALUES GOALS ACTION PLAN September 26, 2013 Page 1

INTRODUCTION Draft to Refine for Each Parish This pastoral planning process for Parish began with initial conversations with the Office for Parish Life in December of 2012. Our parish was invited to participate in a pilot pastoral planning process for the Diocese of Scranton. Based on what is learned in this pilot phase, all parishes in the diocese will be participating in pastoral planning in the coming years. Recognizing the importance of collaboration between parishes to sustain and strengthen parish life in the future, parishes attended the workshops with their respective partner parishes. Our partner parish is. The Parish Pastoral Council provided the leadership for this process. Council members participated in a series of planning workshops attended together with partner parishes and provided by the Office for Parish Life beginning in January of 2013. Recognizing the need to develop plans for the future of the parish and a more clear direction on where we want to go as a parish, a main emphasis was given to designing ways to listen to parishioners in a constructive manner and to identify what people care about in their experience of parish life and their hopes for the future. Our council decided to use the approaches of for the listening process. From to, we conducted. Responses were obtained from parishioners. A report of the listening process findings was provided on. Additional assessments were done by the Parish Pastoral Council to study parish and area demographic trends, parish ministries, and parish financial trends. The results of the planning process led to updating our Parish Mission Statement, developing Core Values to guide our daily efforts, and the development of the following goals and action steps. These goals are intended to build upon and continue the best of what our parish has done in the past, while incorporating new ideas that will enhance the life and vitality of our parish life and ministries over the three/five years from 2014-2016/18. The Parish Pastoral Council in conjunction with the parish staff and needed new committees will oversee the continued implementation of this plan for carrying forth the mission of Jesus in our time. These efforts will call forth a greater involvement of the laity in parish life and a fuller use of their God-given gifts. Page 2
