Eligibility The Competition is open to violinists of any nationality under the age of 22. Junior candidates must be under 16 years of age and senior candidates under 22 years of age on 17 April 2016 (that is everybody born after 17 April 1994). Violinists aged 15 may also enter the Senior Section. How to Apply For the first time this year, we are introducing online applications and candidates need to upload high quality video recordings of the application repertoire, a set of documents and proof of payment of a non-refundable application fee of 100 sterling. Payments are accepted online by credit card via Paypal. Late payment of the fee will make the application void. Payments must be made in sterling. You will have to submit your online application video and materials via DecisionDesk. A link to our DecisionDesk page will be made available on our website by June this year at the latest. The deadline is 31 October 2015. All documents must be received by this date and late applications will not be accepted. Entrants will be advised of their acceptance or otherwise by the end of November 2015. Participation, Travel and Accommodation Entrants will be advised of their acceptance or otherwise by the end of November 2015. Upon being accepted, candidates must confirm their intention to participate by returning the participation contract by December 11 th, 2015. The cost of travel to the competition will be borne by the candidate. Those in need can apply for a travel grant to get to London. Accommodation with local host families and meals will be provided to all participants for the entire period of the competition regardless of whether the candidate advances or not. For competitors under the age of 18 we also provide accommodation for one parent or chaperone with the host family. Please note that any alternative or additional accommodation and related expenses are the candidate s responsibility. Accepted candidates are responsible to apply for a travel visa to the UK where necessary and to hold sufficient travel, accident and health insurance for the duration of their stay. Competition Rules The Competition is open to violinists of any nationality under the age of 22. Junior candidates must be under 16 years of age and senior candidates under 22 years of age on 17 April 2016. Violinists aged 15 on 17 April 2016 may also enter the Senior Section. The Jury will be composed of a Chairman and a minimum of six distinguished international musicians. All decisions of the Jury will be final. The Jury reserves the right to withhold any prize should the required standard not be achieved. Once a candidate has won 1 st Prize, he or she will not be eligible to enter the same section again. Experienced piano accompanists will be available to all candidates with one rehearsal for each stage. Candidates may bring piano accompanists at their own expense but must perform with the official Competition musicians where indicated in the repertoire programme. All music must be played from memory and without repeats unless indicated. Laureates must agree to perform without a fee at the Gala Concert on 17 April 2016. All competitors must agree to perform without a fee at other events during the Competition. Additionally, the Competition reserves the right to record, film, web-stream or broadcast any part of the Competition events. Competitors and Laureates must grant the Competition the sole and exclusive right to use of these recordings. The Competition also reserves the right to share information about applicants and competitors with selected partner organisations.
