Key Stage 1 and 2 classes each have Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for part of the day. Early Years classes have full-time qualified nursery nurses to support learning. How will you help me to support my child s learning? 5 What support will there be for my child s overall Kenyngton Manor Primary School teachers plan using the 2014 National Curriculum. Quality First teaching ensures differentiated planning for all abilities, and learning styles are taken into account. Prior assessment and close monitoring of progress ensures learning objectives and learning activities are sharply matched to meet the needs of all children within the class. Staff differentiate approaches and resources so as to support access to the curriculum Kenyngton Manor Primary Schools offers Parent/Teacher consultations twice yearly with a written report in the Spring term. 7 What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had or are having? 8 How will my child/young person be included in activities outside the classroom including school trips? Recognise we have a particular duty in ensuring that Looked After Children are given the appropriate support and care to help support their progress and engagement within the learning environment. Our designated teacher (Chris Bellamy, 01932783778, Bellamy_c@kenyngtonmanor.org) liaises with social services to ensure the child s wider needs are being met. Kenyngton Manor has an Infant Learning space called The Nest where children go for individual and small group work. The Home School Link Worker can assist with financial, domestic and educational matters. Kenyngton Manor Primary School and Nursery has the services of a SEN consultant who has completed the National SENco Award. This consultant is on site two days per week. A new SENco has been appointed and will be starting appropriate training in the first year of their appointment. The SENco works closely with the SEN Consultant as part of the extensive inclusion team. Continued professional development is a priority at Kenyngton Manor Primary School. Weekly staff meetings and 3 in-service training days (INSET) target the training needs of teachers and Learning Support Assistants. When the needs of the changing organisation are identified, e.g. in response to a pupil with a particular special need, the school responds with personalised teacher training. Individual staff have specific qualifications and achievements related to SEN. For example Speech and Language, Autism and Positive Touch. The School uses the services of the SEN Consultant, Speech and Language Therapist, Language and Learning Consultant and the Behaviour Support Consultant to provide training for both teachers and TAs. The Kenyngton Manor Primary School Inclusion Policy promotes the involvement of all our children in all aspects of the curriculum including activities outside the classroom. All children have access to the outside classroom, where lessons are planned to encourage learning in all environments Educational visits support the learning experiences of classes and consideration is taken to address situations to ensure inclusion. Risk assessments are carried out to ensure all visits are viable and safe. All adults and children are made aware of the health and safety procedures prior to the off-site trips.

9 How accessible is the schools physical environment? 10 How will the school support my child to join Kenyngton Manor? We have a whole school approach to inclusion which supports all learners engaging in activities together. Any barriers to learning or engagement are reviewed with discussions on what can be done to overcome these. We make reasonable adjustments so that learners can join in with activities regardless of their needs Kenyngton Manor Primary School is a two storey building however the school will make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of the pupils in our care. Staff are vigilant, ensuring physical barriers are removed in order for pupils to access the learning environment. Facilities include a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Kenyngton Manor Primary School s policies and practice adheres to The equality Act 2010 and all endeavour to make the school environment fully inclusive. Kenyngton Manor Primary School utilises the bi-lingual skills of the staff to assist communication with parents and families with English as an additional language. In order to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs the school, where possible endeavours, to source specialist equipment e.g. footstools, writing wedges. Kenyngton Manor School acknowledges that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. The school holds a series of Open Mornings conducted by the Head of School and pupils. Alternatively parents can request an individual school tour of the school with the Head of School or a Senior Leader. Admission to the school is managed through the Surrey School Admissions service. The school manages it s own in-year admissions. Pre-visits and school viewings are encouraged as it is important that you child feels safe and welcomed. Where possible when a pupil with SEN requests a place at Kenyngton Manor Primary School the SENCo will visit that pupil and meet with the parents prior to starting at the school in order to ascertain how best needs can be meet. Class teachers or Learning Support Assistants welcome pupils on their first day and escort them to their classes ensuring they have a buddy (peer) to help them become familiar with school day Home School Link. Liaison between the Kenyngton Manor Nursery, Children s Centre and local Nursery ensure the school is informed and can make preparation for the needs of the pupils joining the school. Getting ready for school sessions, Home visits and welcome meetings are arranged to welcome new children and families.

11 How are the school s resources allocated and matched to children s special educational needs? 12 How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child will receive? An innovative secondary transition project supports all year 6 pupils, with bespoke programmes in place for some. These bespoke programmes are designed through close liaison between Kenyngton Manor Primary School and local secondary schools. To ensure a smooth transition when changing school, all records are passed to the receiving school. In some instances it is appropriate to invite the receiving school to the Annual Review. Students receive support based on their level of need and this equates to much more than we receive in terms of funding for each student Kenyngton Manor Primary school seek to ensure a value for money service A layered intervention programme is developing to ensure all pupils who do not reach their potential have the rapid and targeted intervention to do so. We review the needs of the learners in our school and endeavour to put in place provisions in order to be able to cater for these needs.. The SENCo carries out learning walks which include reviewing how the provision is delivered and helps in maintaining standards through rigorous quality assurance Our provision management tool also looks at the impact each intervention has had on the progress of each learner. Decisions are made as to whether specific interventions are proving to be effective both in terms of the time spent on them and the finance used in providing the intervention. The decision about what type of support and how much support a student receives is made on an individual basis, taking into account many factors and based primarily on the level of need of the student. Ultimately, the SENCo is responsible for making such decisions, but there is input from a variety of other professionals including classroom teachers, senior leadership, the ELSA, H.S.LW, LM as well as the learner and their family. Following the sharing of information decisions are made as to the most appropriate type of support to put in place for the learner. Learners are then spoken to regarding progress/concerns with a one page profile being completed, parents are also consulted when the profile is put together. Class Teachers will identify individual children s needs through assessment and based on their level of attainment and progress. The SENCo is notified of concerns and the appropriate intervention is arranged -this may be specialist support, outside agencies or targeted intervention programmes. The impact of targeted support is monitored rigorously through ½ termly pupil progress

meetings. The SENCo oversees all additional support and informs the SEN linked Governor who is accountable for school performance. 13 How are parents involved in Kenyngton Manor? How can I be involved? 14 Who can I contact for further information?
