Introduction Thank you for taking the time to read the Dayinsure Broker Guide. There are 2 Dayinsure products which are available to brokers : - Short Term Insurance : this facility allows drivers aged from 21-75 to purchase cover from 1 to 28 days online. Typical scenarios are customers who want to borrow a car, take a test drive, or allow a temporary additional driver to drive their car. We can cover most cars, vans and motorhomes. Cover is not available on hire cars/vans, nor on any vehicle which is in a police compound. - Learner Cover : is available for drivers aged 17 and over who have a provisional licence. All cover ceases as soon as the driver passes their driving test. Our cover is separate standalone cover the vehicle must not belong to the provisional licence-holder, and it must also have an annual insurance policy running concurrently with our Learner policy. We provide cover only between the hours of 6am and 10 pm, and only when the learner driver is accompanied by a driver aged 25 and over who has held a full UK licence for at least 3 years. Commission You have the ability to set your own commission levels from within the Dayinsure Broker system. This facility is accessed via the Account / Commission menu option. There are two tabs for commission : one tab for Short Term Insurance (fig b) and another tab for Learner Cover (fig c). Short Term Insurance The default commission for Short Term Insurance is set as the greater of : - 10% of the premium OR - 10 for bookings of 1 to 3 days, 12 for bookings of 3 or 4 days, 15 for bookings of 6 to 8 days, or 20 for bookings of 9 to 28 days. So for example if you chose to leave the default commissions in place, and a customer purchased a 3 day booking via your link, with a premium of 50, then you would receive a commission of 12 from us the month after the policy incepted. If another customer purchased a 28 day policy with a premium of 220, you would receive 22 in commission. Fig b NB. At Dayinsure we normally charge Short Term Insurance customers who come directly to our site an admin fee in the range of 5-7. On Broker-introduced business, we will remove this fee. This will ensure that your pricing is proximate to the price a customer will see were they to visit the Dayinsure site directly. 3 of 17
Learner Cover Learner Cover commission is set by the length of policy e.g. Daily, Weekly and Monthly (fig c). There are default amounts of 5 for daily, 10 for weekly and 15 for monthly. Although these commission amounts can be increased, the commission cannot be set to a lower amount than the default. The commission can also be calculated as a percentage. The percentage can be any value but the same default commission levels apply e.g. if the daily commission is set to 5% but the 5% would only result in a commission value 2.50, then the default of 5 would apply. This feature avoids a broker ever have a total price that is less than the Dayinsure web site price. Fig c NB. At Dayinsure we normally charge Learner customers who come directly to our site an admin fee of 5, 10 or 15 respectively for daily, weekly and monthly bookings. On Broker-introduced business, we will remove this fee. This will ensure that your pricing is proximate to the price a customer will see were they to visit the Dayinsure Learner site directly. 4 of 17
Quote & Buy In order to get a quote or to buy insurance you need to login to the broker portal using the username and password you received after registration. (Although you can login to the portal immediately, you will be unable to use the quote & buy facility until our customer services team have authorised your request). Once you have been authorised, you can use the Insurance / Quote & Buy menu option. This screen will contain up to two tabs depending on what features have been authorised. By default, an authorised broker would have access to the Short Term Insurance New Quote tab. If Learner Cover is enabled, a second tab is also visible (fig d). Fig d On the Learner Cover New Quote tab, you can click on the New Learner Cover Quotation button and the Learner Cover quote engine will load. As with short term insurance, you can also use a button or link directly on your own web site. You need to follow the on-screen instructions, including the url which is specific to your brokerage and is the way in which we track sales through your account back to you. The following pages of this guide are designed to walk you through the stages of our quotation process : these screens are similar for the Short Term Insurance product and for the Learner product, and so to avoid repetition we have just shown the Learner screens. 5 of 17
Quote Engine Once you/your customer clicks to get a Learner Cover quote, the Your Information (fig e) screen of the quote engine is displayed. 6 of 17
Fig e Policy wording, summary and terms and conditions documents are always visible throughout the steps of the process, as well as support contact details. All fields on this step must be completed. Once this is done, clicking the Get a Quote button will display the Your Quote screen (fig f). In the event that the customer is fraud blocked or we cannot 7 of 17
insure the vehicle etc, the customer will be displayed an alternative screen informing them that we cannot offer insurance at this time. Fig f Summary prices are displayed at the top of the screen showing a customer a quick view of prices available. These summary boxes can be clicked to select that period. If the customer needs a specific number of days e.g. 3, then the dropdowns can be used to select the required period. 8 of 17
Periods can be selected in days, weeks and months (note, a month is a period of 28 days). Once the desired period has been specified, click the Next step button. During the process, the Go back button can be clicked to go back to the previous step, as can the header navigation bar. Step 3 is the Quote Summary screen (fig g). This step shows the customer the period they have chosen as well as the price. The customer then needs to select the date of which the policy is to start. The policy can start today, but the customer will be charged a full day s price no matter what time the policy is to start e.g. policies run from 6am to 10pm. If a customer starts a policy and the time is 3pm, then they would still be charged the same rate as a customer buying a policy at 6am. The customer needs to complete all the fields on this screen. The customer is also required to enter their driving licence number. The customer is also asked a question Is the vehicle insured annually?. All vehicles must be insured annually for a learner policy to be valid therefore if a customer answers No to this question, upon clicking Next step, the vehicle will be blocked and the customer prevented from proceeding any further. Once the details have been completed, clicking Next step will present the customer with the Terms and conditions screen (fig h). Clicking Next step will now present the customer with the Confirmation screen (fig i). This is the final step before payment. On this screen we ask the customer to check all the details and confirm each section. As the delivery of the insurance certificate is via email, we also give the customer the opportunity to update their email address before confirming it is correct. Once all details are correct, the customer then clicks Next step to start the payment process. The payment process can be up to 3 steps e.g. billing address, card details and 3d Secure. The first step is Billing Details (fig j). These details are the details where the customers debit / credit card is registered to. The details can also be copied from the driver by clicking the Copy Driver s Address button. A few other details e.g. card holder first name, surname, email address and telephone number are required. These are used by the bank to help prevent fraud. The payment screen also shows the total amount to be charged and an additional amount that will be charged if the customer pays by a credit card. Once these details have been entered, click the Pay now button. This will now start the banking part of the process. The next screen to be displayed will ask the customer to select the card type they wish to pay with (fig k). If a credit card is selected, the total due box is recalculated with the additional credit card charge. Once a card type is selected, the screen will be updated (fig l), and now ask the customer to enter their credit / debit card details. Once all the details have been entered, click the Checkout button. 9 of 17
At this point, the details are sent to the bank for approval. If declined, the customer will be returned to the card selection screen and asked if they would like to select another card as the last attempt was declined. If the card details are correct but the customer s bank requires 3d Secure authentication, then the 3d Secure screen will be displayed to the customer. The customer must be authenticated before payment is approved. If 3d Secure is not a success, then the customer payment is declined and the customer will be returned to the card selection screen as above. If the payment is a success then the customer is displayed a thank you screen (fig m). From here the customer can print a copy of their certificate of motor insurance and all other documents. The customer will also receive an email with details of the purchase and a copy of their certificate of motor insurance attached. NB. For illustration purposes, screen grabs are of the Dayinsure Learner screens. The Broker version will display the same content but will carry Aviva branding, with the option to add your brokerage s logo in the top corner. 10 of 17
