Thermo Scientific ISQ Single Quadrupole GC-MS The Ideal Solution for Truly Unstoppable GC-MS Productivity Let s face it. The reality of using GC-MS systems for analysis of samples clean, dirty, complex, or routine means that your system will get dirty. Stopping to clean the instrument means lost time, lost money, and lost resources. Even scheduled maintenance means rearranging priorities and shifting of work to take care of the cleaning. It s a day of work, gone. Not anymore. Re-think the way your lab operates with the Thermo Scientific ISQ single quadrupole GC-MS system. The ISQ GC-MS incorporates a new source design that lets your system stay cleaner, longer. With heat throughout the ion optics, the ISQ can analyze more dirty samples per day, with maximum uptime. Better yet, when the instrument finally requires cleaning, the new source design can be fully removed including all of the lenses and the repeller through the front vacuum interlock, without venting the system. This lets you clean your source, swap it, or change ionization type, and be ready to run samples within minutes, not hours or days. Why break your workflow when you can have unstoppable productivity? Innovation with a Purpose Your Lab s Success Today s technology is changing fast, and your lab is changing too. The ISQ represents a new design, not an incremental improvement, and it includes the latest in today s technology and knowhow. With the ISQ, there is no need to buy different GC-MS systems from different vendors to perform different tasks. The ISQ delivers excellent performance for routine GC-MS analyses, while incorporating innovative advances that allow you to easily expand your lab s test ranges or incorporate new sample analysis techniques. This innovation lies in the new ExtractaBrite source, the heart of the ISQ mass spectrometer. The Heart of the ISQ The ISQ is designed to stay cleaner, longer, to maximize your instrument s uptime and improve your lab s productivity. The need to break vacuum, cool off your system, and spend hours cleaning, reassembling, and restoring the system is gone. The heated ion volume, lens stack, and ion optics path in the ISQ ensure that the system stays cleaner longer, but when the system no longer meets your analytical needs, restoring performance is quick and easy. The ExtractaBrite source incorporates a cartridge that contains the repeller, source lenses, and RF lens, all of which can be removed from the instrument while still under vacuum. What once took hours, or even an entire day, is now accomplished in minutes. ISQ Feature Benefits Extend instrument uptime with unique Full Source Removal for continuous day-in, day-out operation Improve sample throughput using the industry's fastest scan rate across a usable mass range for use with today s high-performance gas chromatographs Extended mass range for analytical versatility Sequential Full Scan/SIM for confirmation and screening in the same analysis

Thermo Scientific ISQ Single Quadrupole GC-MS The Right GC-MS System for Today s Challenges, Tomorrow s Opportunities Ease of Use Built Right In The ISQ GC-MS system is designed to easily fit into your laboratory s workflows. Easy to learn, easy to use, and easy to maintain the ISQ was developed to meet the needs of the modern analytical laboratory. Whether you re upgrading from GC detectors to GC-MS, adding a new system to your lab, or just getting started with GC-MS, the ISQ offers the right mix of power and simplicity. Rugged enough for demanding 24/7 operations, the ISQ also provides for future growth and expansion by being easily upgradeable. This flexibility means that your investment is protected, and your lab s ability to change to meet changing environments is assured. Extended Mass Range More Compounds to Cover The ISQ offers an extended mass range, from 1.2 to 1100 u. This wide mass range means that your lab can perform analyses across the broadest range of compounds. Because the ISQ is compatible with direct sample introduction, you are not limited to the mass range of compounds that are GC-able, allowing you to further exploit this mass range. Decabromobiphenyl Enhanced Transferline Design The ISQ features an optimized GC-MS interface. This transferline evenly distributes heat across the length of the analytical column, ensuring that there are no hot or cold spots, which in turn delivers Gaussian peak shapes, even for high-boiling compounds. Decabromobiphenyl ether Decabromobiphenyl and decabromobiphenyl ether, demonstrating excellent peak shape

Meet Demanding Performance Requirements, Day In and Day Out What do you give up when you move to unstoppable productivity? With the ISQ you don t have to compromise performance for productivity. Today s GC-MS assays demand ultimate sensitivity for meeting strict regulatory guidance, so the ISQ offers unbeatable performance in all modes of analysis. No Noise is Good Noise Achieving lower detection limits using a single quadrupole GC-MS requires breaking boundaries of noise chemical noise, electronic noise, and neutral noise. Chemical noise and neutral noise contribute to higher backgrounds and affect detectability the ability to distinguish a low-concentration target from noise. The ISQ design reduces chemical and neutral noise, allowing for lower detection limits and improved sensitivity. Excellent Sensitivity Unparalleled Robustness Easily meet your required detection limits, and consistently meet them even as you continue to run samples. It s not only about how sensitive your system is when it first arrives, but how long you can continue to achieve your required performance levels that is the true measure of productivity. Heated ion optic zones in the ISQ help ensure that the system stays cleaner for a longer period of time. ISQ Features Mass range from 1.2-1100 u Vacuum interlock for Full-Source Removal without venting S-Shaped Ion Guide for noise reduction ExtractaBrite source for analytical robustness and flexibility Fast acquisition rates compatible with high-speed gas chromatography Removable cartridge source design for quick maintenance or to easily change ionization modes Sequential full scan/sim for qualitative and quantitative analysis in a single injection Dual filament with fine-tuned control for reliable operation QuanLab Forms layered application software for easy acquisition, review and reporting of GC-MS data Analytical Flexibility EI mode for unknown analysis the standard for GC-MS acquisitions Chemical ionization, including PCI for molecular weight confirmation, NCI for enhanced selectivity and sensitivity, with PPINICI standard for alternating PCI and NCI scans in a single injection Expanded Capabilities Liquid and headspace autosampler options DEP/DIP direct sample probes Range of injection port options, all with large volume injection capabilities EnviroLab Forms and ToxLab Forms for workflow-oriented data acquisition, review and reporting according to specific market needs Choice of gas chromatographs to match GC performance to the analytical needs of your lab Compatible with additional sample introduction techniques, such as thermal desorption, purge and trap and solid phase microextraction (SPME)

Thermo Scientific ISQ Single Quadrupole GC-MS Design Innovations that Work for You Tapping into advanced technology to streamline day-to-day operations The ISQ GC-single quadrupole MS has been designed to be at its heart a true workhorse for your laboratory. Rugged components, simplified access, and streamlined tool requirements are all incorporated into the ISQ to make the system easy to use, simple to maintain, and ideal for your GC-MS analysis needs from research to routine. Full Source Removal for Easy Maintenance The ExtractaBrite source incorporates a source cartridge that contains the repeller, lens stack, and RF lens, all of which can be removed from the instrument while still under vacuum. What once took hours, or even an entire day, is now accomplished in minutes. The cartridge source allows you to change ionization modes from electron ionization (EI) to chemical ionization (CI) and back again without shutting off your system. Why compromise EI or CI performance using a source that isn t optimized for your ionization mode when you can simply change sources in minutes? Unique Dual-Filament Design The ISQ offers a dual filament for extended operation and lifetime. The unique design of the filament in the ISQ ensures that both filaments offer similar analytical performance. The filaments are oriented in the same direction for improved performance and are protected by an electron lens. Your analyses do not pay a price for switching from one filament to the next. In addition, filament current at lower settings is more tightly regulated, for better accuracy and increased dynamic range. Go Wireless The cartridge source eliminates the hassle of connecting and disconnecting wires when maintaining your ion source. Secure electrical connections with the ion optics offer consistent connections, wirelessly. There is no need to inspect the source to confirm that the wires are in the correct location, or to remember which lead goes where just insert the cartridge and go. On-Axis (in-line) Optics noise reduced to ~2 ions/sec Noise reduction due to off-axis ion optics S-shaped Ion Guide Reduces Excited Helium Noise Off-axis optics combined with a unique s-shaped ion guide (SSIG) dramatically reduce the effects of excited helium neutrals reaching the detector by creating a path that the neutrals cannot navigate. The ISQ offers improved detectivity without reducing the available dynamic range of the instrument and without affecting the spectral data generated. Off-Axis Optics

Scan Fast, Across a Useful Mass Range Fast scan rates on a GC-MS system sound good, until you run into analytical limits on the utility of these faster scan rates. The ISQ features fast electronics that write data to disc nearly as fast as it can be acquired, so your applications are limited more by the physics of ion flight time, not the instrument s electronics. Mass spectra generated at high scan rates are comparable to those created at slower scan rates, meaning that you ll be able to confidently identify compounds using standard library searching. Unsurpassed Detector Dynamic Range The ISQ detection system was designed to provide a broad dynamic range to cover concentrations that could vary widely from sample to sample. Within a day s batch, unknown concentrations can be either very low, approaching the detection limits, or very high, pushing the capability of both the analytical column and the mass spectrometer. The detection system is modular to facilitate quick, easy, and cost effective replacement of the multiplier element over the life of the instrument. The conversion dynode and associated ion optics remain a permanent part of the instrument. Only the multiplier module is replaced. The mounting is designed to insure proper alignment for maximum performance. The multiplier itself is a discretedynode device which enables maximum dynamic range while reducing noise. High scan rates for quantitative precision and fast throughput Excellent analytical linearity reduces re-analysis needs Wide mass range covers broad application needs
