Pupils who opt to play on Saturdays are likely to be playing on grass and studded boots are still the best footwear for this surface, although astro shoes can be used. Studded boots should have either a moulded sole or plastic screw in studs please note that metal studs are not permitted on a hockey pitch. Girls tend to wear football boots as their "studded" footwear. Training shoes are unsafe on grass, particularly when it is wet. In P5 and P6 hockey sticks are provided. If pupils wish to purchase their own stick, they should seek advice before doing so from the PE Department. In P7 pupils require to purchase a hockey stick - ladies hip height - advice from PE Department. [Pupils also require a towel and a change of underwear/socks] - 4 -
