1.0 OVERVIEW These release notes are intended to provide the list of changes (i.e., current software versions being delivered, new features/enhancements, known issues, etc.) for the WOS Cloud platform release Version 1.5.0. 2.0 CONFIGURATION REQUIREMENTS See the DDN WOS Cloud Administration Guide (96-000305-001 Rev A). 3.0 NEW FEATURES/ENHANCEMENTS WOS Cloud is a software and storage solution that provides a scalable, multi-tenant infrastructure to support the largest enterprises and service providers, providing customers choice when deploying and consolidating applications onto a highly scalable cloud storage infrastructure. At its core is the DDN Web Object Scaler (WOS) object clustering system, intelligent software that allows a content delivery platform to be created out of small building blocks, enabling the system to start small, and easily grow to a multi-petabyte scale. WOS also supports key cloud capabilities such as built-in replication, high availability, self healing, and management simplicity to reduce OPEX and TCO. The storage platform software component of WOS cloud supports public cloud capabilities such multitenancy, billing & reporting, and REST API capabilities such as Amazon S3 compatibility, CDMI, and WebDAV. In addition, WOS Cloud provides Smartphone and tablet personal cloud storage and web browser clients. 3.1 PERSONAL CLOUD STORAGE The WOS Cloud Personal Cloud Storage solution enables individual users to store, share, and access files, anytime and anywhere from personal devices and web browser. WOS Cloud enables secure online file storage, file sharing, content tagging, and access from white label Web, desktop, Smartphone, and tablet access clients. For enterprises, this means improving efficiency and providing employees with access and sharing capabilities without the use of VPN whether they are in the office (behind the firewall) or not. Full encryption and access controls provide the high levels of security and control. Data stored and accessed in a public cloud provides a less expensive, pay-as-you-use option for storing information or an organization may also choose to implement its own private storage cloud behind the firewall. WOS Cloud supports the following capabilities and benefits: Enables secure global file sharing and collaboration Provides anytime/anywhere access via Web, desktop or Smartphone clients Users always access closest files Reduces storage expense with thinly provisioned desktop Easily share and publish large files globally Uses generic branding or brand as your own Easy to deploy and provision DataDirect Networks WCSP v1.5.0 Release Notes 44
3.2 PROGRAMMABLE CLOUD STORAGE WITH WOS CLOUD INTEROPERABLE API ACCESS The WOS Cloud interoperability API enables customers to move existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) workloads internal and generally supports seamless interoperability of applications developed for other storage clouds such as Amazon S3 and Eucalyptus. WOS Cloud Interoperability REST APIs are the choice of Web developers creating Web applications. REST APIs are Web tolerant and enable developers to extend the capabilities and services far beyond what is offered by traditional storage with advanced services such as secure sharing and collaboration. Specifically, WOS cloud interoperability API provides the following capabilities and benefits: Enables seamless interoperability with applications using other storage clouds that leverage a variety of partner solutions Provides Multiple API support Eliminates vendor lock-in Enables advanced services that enable enterprises and public cloud service providers to address data location requirements, and enable additional functionality such as publishing to URLs, content tagging, hierarchical storage, etc. Reduces costs and complexity Interfaces with WebDAV for LAN connections 4.0 INSTALLATION/UPGRADE PROCEDURE For installation instructions, please refer to the Installing the Platform section of the DDN WOSCloud Administration Guide. 5.0 SUPPORT Please contact DataDirect Networks Support at any time for assistance.
