Youth and Parent Information Packet Love in Motion: UMC Youth Eco-Justice Retreat May 13-15, 2016 The Retreat Love is more than a noun, it s a verb love is a motion. Love in Motion is a weekend retreat where we ll encounter God s love by giving God s love to others. Join us as we ll explore the theme of God s love and see that God s love is manifested in action. 1
North Oxnard United Methodist Church Location Church Contact Information: North Oxnard UMC Pastor Rick Pearson 1801 North Joliet Place Oxnard, CA 93030 (805) 485-0778 Cost: $35 per person* The cost for the retreat will cover lodging on site at North Oxnard UMC, retreat T-Shirt, and five meals for Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch. Parents may send youth with shopping money, as there may be time for shopping in Old Town Ventura. This is not required. *Scholarship opportunities available if needed. Contact Ben Camp if needed. Deadlines A deposit of $20 must be submitted by April 18 th and the remaining balance of $15 must be received by May 2 nd. All participants are required to submit the attached parental release and consent form in order to participate in this retreat. Transportation 2

Emergency Contact Since a large part of the atmosphere at our youth retreats is separation from the day-today, we will be requiring that cellphones be kept off and kept in safe storage by retreat staff. If you have an absolute need to be in direct contact with your student, please contact Ben Camp before the retreat. Emergency contact will be done through the retreat staff. Spending money if you want to buy something when we are in town What NOT to Bring Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, inappropriate clothing, etc. (all the common sense things not to bring to a church event) Community Standards These are the set of norms that we use for guiding our times together as a youth community. 1. Be present (No phones) 2. Be known (Ask an adult if you need to go somewhere and always use the buddy system) 3. Be active (Participation in all activities is a must) 4. Be fun! (Enjoy yourself, have a good time) *If students are in repeated and defiant violation of these standards, it will be the responsibility of the parent / guardian to come pick-up their child. (This has never been a problem in the past, but it still has to be said just in case.) Closing If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ben Camp.
