Agriculture, Viticulture and Enology An internship in this category can be located in almost any of our Coastal or Central Valley locations including Sonoma, San Miguel, San Luis Obispo, Napa, Paso Robles, St. Helena, Modesto, Livingston, Healdsburg, Lodi, Fresno, and Sunnyside, Washington. They also range in length, anywhere from three to nine months. These positions are focused in Viticulture, Winemaking, and Grower Relations. Internships in this category are involved in labs, production, vineyard management, and research. These internships are the positions for people who want to be out in the vineyards or dealing with data in a lab, they are very research driven and extremely hands on. Below are some of the related majors that we consider applicable to these internships. Winemaking Internship: Working in winemaking, interns will be working directly with production, distribution, and corporate decision making for our domestic and international business. Lab Internship: Interns will deal closely with samples and tests for all our products gaining valuable first hand experience with some of the latest technology and some of our most pressing data. Grower Relations Internship: Learn to produce the highest quality wine grapes using technologically advanced production techniques while maintaining important business relationships. GVI Viticulture/Viticulture Research Internship: These internships are responsible for planting, farming, harvesting, and conducting influential research on our vineyards. Modesto Spirits Internship: Interns working in the Spirits Business Unit enjoy the opportunity to work with distillers and learn about virtually every spirit in commercial production today. Research Winery Internship: Working in the Research Winery, interns will get to assist in executing experiments in support of research products dealing with data from anywhere along the winemaking process from grape to glass. Wine and Grape Supply Internship: Interns will learn how to process and organize relevant data layers for geographical information technologies. Life Science An internship in this category can be located in almost any of our Coastal or Central Valley locations including San Miguel, San Luis Obispo, St. Helena, Modesto, Livingston, Healdsburg, Napa, Fresno, and Sunnyside, Washington, but some are located in specific departments such as Quality or Process Technology. They also range in length, anywhere from three to eight months. These positions are focused in winemaking, science, and laboratory work. Internships in this category are involved in the creation of our products. These internships are the positions for people who want to be part of the unique experience of winemaking and developing. Winemaking Internship: Working in winemaking allows interns direct contact with production, distribution, and corporate decision making for our domestic and international business. Lab Internship: These internships deal closely with samples and tests for all our products gaining valuable first hand experience with some of the latest technology and some of our most pressing data. Chemistry Internship: Chemistry gives its interns opportunities to work on pressing projects and gain hands on experience in the lab. Fermentation/Bio Systems Internship: Using a multi-disciplinary approach to studying the biology of grape growing, interns will research the interactions between grapevine and yeast molecules in order to develop new processes and products for the business. Research Winery Internship: Working in the Research Winery, interns will get to assist in executing experiments in support of research products dealing with data from anywhere along the winemaking process from grape to glass. Fresno and Livingston Start-Up Internship: Interns will be assisting in the startup of winery expansions, gaining the opportunity to gain hands on knowledge and experience in a lab or production environment. Process Technology Development Internship: Interns will assist in the development and upscale of new winery technologies. Corporate Quality/Analytical Services Internship: Interns will assist in various quality related functions including lab work and quality projects. Engineering An internship in this category can be located on our Modesto campus, however there are opportunities in San Miguel, Livingston, and Fresno as well. Most internships in this category are six months long, but there are a few that occur over a shorter duration of time. These positions are focused in engineering featuring different emphasis. Internships in this category are involved in production, operations, process development, and laboratories as a few examples. These internships are the positions for people who are majoring in engineering, or interested exploring the careers that engineering can lead to. Premium Business Unit Engineering Organization Internship: Interns will learn to apply project management, procurement, document control, and construction management under the guidance of experienced project managers. Fresno and Livingston Winery Start-Up Engineering Internships: Interns will be assisting in the startup of major winery expansions, gaining the opportunity to gain hands on knowledge and experience in a lab or production environment. Process Technology Development Internship: Interns will assist in the development and upscale of new winery technologies. Positions function under Grower Relations, Marketing, Information Technology, and Finance. The projects that come from these internships vary greatly. Projects can range anywhere from point of sale displays to accounting. Coastal Marketing Internship: Interns will learn Direct-to-Consumer, trade hospitality, wine club, and E-commerce business in a fast-paced winery hospitality environment. Grower Relations Internship: Interns learn to produce the highest quality wine grapes using technologically advanced production techniques while maintaining important business relationships. Information Technology Internship: Interns gain the ability to understand complex business issues and to creatively develop appropriate solutions for improvement. Digital Marketing Internship: Inters will learn to create impactful digital marketing strategies that align with brand marketing goals. Creative Services Internship: Interns will assist in the creation of award-winning identities and promotional work that builds upon the essence of Gallo brands.
