Rules for Riding Easy Rider Bus These rules are in place to ensure that all passengers will have a safe and pleasant trip while riding with Easy Rider. SMOKING West Virginia law prohibits smoking on public buses. FOOD AND BEVERAGES Consuming food or beverages or possessing open food or beverage containers while on the bus is prohibited. ANIMALS Service animals are permitted and must be kept on a leash no longer than three (3) feet in length. Small animals are permitted on the bus but must be kept in a cage/carrier. The cage/carrier may not be stowed in the aisle of the bus. AUDIO DEVICES: RADIOS, IPODS, ETC. The use of these devices aboard buses is prohibited unless the passenger utilizes an earphone system. ATTIRE Proper clothing, including shirts and shoes, is required aboard all buses. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR Any disorderly, lewd or inappropriate conduct is prohibited on the bus and in the transit center. Obscene, profane, vulgar, foul or abusive language is also prohibited. WEAPONS Weapons of any type are not permitted. CARRY-ON ITEMS Carry-on items are permitted provided that they do not exceed what you can comfortably carry on the bus in one (1) trip. These items are to be stored so that they do not interfere with other passengers. Explosive, flammable, toxic, dangerous or offensive items that may cause harm or discomfort to any passengers are prohibited. DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO No drugs, alcohol or tobacco permitted. BICYCLES Most buses have bike racks. If one is not available or no room is available on the rack, bicycles are permitted inside the bus provided there is adequate space available in an unoccupied wheelchair area or in the back of the bus. BABY STROLLERS Children must be removed from stroller and either held safely in the arms of the adult accompanying them or in the seat by that adult. Strollers are to be stowed. CROSSING IN FRONT OF THE BUS Due to safety reasons, our drivers are not permitted to stop to pick up passengers who cross the street in front of the bus. Please stand on the appropriate side of the street to board the bus. TITLE VI NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY The Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority and the Easy Rider bus system is committed to a policy of non-discrimination in the conduct of its business, including its Title VI responsibilities and to the delivery of equitable and accessible transportation services. Any person who believes he or she has been subjected to discrimination under Title VI on the basis of race, color, or national origin may file a Title VI complaint with the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority within 180 days from the date of the alleged discrimination. Welcome to Easy Rider Bus! 7TH STREET FARES & PASSES Easy Rider charges a base fare of $0.50 with free transfers. For your convenience, we offer discount passes for students, the elderly and persons on Medicare. The following is a full listing of current fares and pass costs: ONE WAY FARE Adult...$0.50 Senior (65 or older)...$0.25 Student (Student ID required)...$0.25 Disabled (Medicare cardholder)...$0.25 Child (5 years and under)...free Transfer...FREE ONE DAY UNLIMITED RIDE PASS Day passes may be purchased on each bus for $1.50 that entitles the purchaser to unlimited rides on the day the pass is bought. Day passes are not valid after bus service ends that day. 30-DAY UNLIMITED RIDE PASS 30-Day passes may be purchased at the Easy Rider office. A 30-day pass entitles the purchaser to unlimited rides for 30 days from the day the pass is first used. Adult...$20.00 Senior (65 or older)...$10.00 Student (Student ID required)...$10.00 Disabled (Medicare cardholder)...$10.00 TRANSFERS Free transfers are available on each bus for any passenger that will need to transfer to another bus to get to their destination. Transfers will not be accepted for return trips and will not be accepted on the route on which they were issued. Transfers are valid at the Transit Center only. PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES Passengers with a Medicare card may ride for $0.25. BUS STOPS Easy Rider does not use designated stops. Buses pick up passengers anywhere along a regular route when flagged, except in a designated safety zone. Buses stop at the nearest corner after the stop signal is activated by a passenger. ROUTE DEVIATION Passengers wishing to be picked up in parts of some routes marked as Deviation Area must call the office before the bus leaves the Transit Center. Passengers wishing to be dropped off in a deviation area must inform the driver at the time of boarding. PARATRANSIT SERVICE Easy Rider provides special curb-to-curb service to individuals with disabilities who cannot ride the regular buses. Users must meet federal eligibility requirements and be certified in advance. The service is provided by appointment only. *Passengers paying reduced fare rates must have proof of eligibility to present to the driver. OFFICE HOURS Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. BUS SERVICE HOURS Monday - Saturday: 5:50 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. No Service on Sundays HOLIDAYS Easy Rider buses do not operate and the office is closed on the following holidays: New Year s Day Labor Day Memorial Day Thanksgiving July 4th Christmas
