How do I complete my Final Video Assessment? As part of the assessment for your online Certificate III in Fitness, you must submit a video covering the practical components of the course, and demonstrate the required competency in these skills. When completing this submission please adhere to the following points:! It is essential that you obtain written consent from your client before commencing filming. The Consent Form can be found on Page 2 of this document and needs to be signed by both parties and submitted with your video.! You must conduct the Final Video Assessment in a commercial gym (speak to your work placement provider for permission). Final Video Assessments filmed at home will not be accepted and will be returned to you unmarked for re-submission. This is essential, as we need to see your competent understanding and delivery of training programs in a commercial gym environment. THIS IS MANDATORY.! Videos must be submitted on a USB or DVD with.avi or.mp4 as the preferred format however any of the following formats are also acceptable:!.mov!.mpg!.wmv!.flv!.mpeg! You do not need a professional video camera; using an iphone is perfectly acceptable and you do not need to have it professionally produced. Close-ups or zoom shots are not required; just keep the recording simple and clear. The emphasis must be on the overall execution of the criteria and giving a clear, concise explanation.! Once you have finished each section, watch it to make sure the sound and visual quality is acceptable. If the assessor cannot see or hear you, then it may affect your assessment outcome.! Final Video Assessment submissions must be submitted on a USB or DVD. We cannot accept video files sent via email, Dropbox, or WeTransfer, etc. due to compliance needs and the volume of downloads; we need a physical copy for our records.! The Final Video Assessment is a recording of simulated activities (i.e. you can use a friend or family member as your client ).! Clearly identify yourself (via a short introduction) as the student and introduce what you are about to demonstrate for each criterion.! Once you have completed your Final Video Assessment, please review all sections to identify whether the information reflects your current level of understanding. If you feel it does not reflect your knowledge, film the sections again. The assessor will assume that your submitted video is your final draft.! Print your name and contact details clearly on the USB or DVD submission.! Print and complete all the required Appendices, Health Screen Form and Exercise Programs and submit them with your USB or DVD.! PTA does not return submissions. They remain the property of PTA for RTO compliance purposes. Please make sure you save a back-up copy of your Final Video Assessment. What do I need to film as part of my Final Video Assessment? The following information is what you will be marked on; it is vital that you include all of these topics in your submission to be eligible to pass the Final Video Assessment. 1. Meet and Greet This is a hypothetical meeting with your client as if they were meeting you for the first time and were about to undergo a fitness assessment having just joined your gym. Approximate time for this task is two (2) minutes.! Your introduction with your client, establishing a rapport.! Your explanation to your client the purpose of the fitness assessment and an overview of the session. 2. Health Screen Form Refer to the CIII Health Screen Form. You must have your client complete this in full and return to PTA along with the rest of your submission. You are not required to film the full process, just you summarizing what you have learned from their CIII Health Screen Form. Approximate time for this task is two (2) minutes.! Yourself giving a brief verbal summary of your client s health questionnaire, addressing key areas such as Health History and Goal Setting.! Highlight any factors that may affect your client s adherence to exercise in the future and recognise if referral to an allied health professional is necessary. 3. Blood Pressure Test This task is to be completed and filmed in full using a blood pressure sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. It is not permitted to use an automatic blood pressure machine. If you do, you will be asked to resubmit this task. Approximate time for this task is three (3) minutes.! The application of the cuff with explanation.! The placement of the stethoscope.! Your explanation of the inflation of the cuff.! Your explanation of the deflation of the cuff.! Your explanation of the reading and what the results mean to your client.! 4. Girth Measurement Choose two (2) of the following sites and film yourself taking accurate girth measurements. Chest Waist Hips Thigh Calf Upper arm Approximate time for this task is five (5) minutes.! Yourself explaining the test and gaining your client s consent.! How to find the correct location of the two sites chosen.! The correct placement and reading of the tape.! Your explanation of what the results mean. 5. Body Composition Choose three (3) of the following skin fold sites and film yourself taking accurate skin fold measurements. Bicep Tricep Supraspinale Thigh Calf Subscapular Approximate time for this task is eight (8) minutes.! Yourself explaining the test and gaining your client s consent.! How to find the correct location of the three sites chosen.! The finding of the correct site, using the correct technique when grasping the skin fold and applying the calipers.! Your explanation of what the results mean. 6. Queens College Step Test Film the entire test. The sample video for this is located in the Health Assessment section of your course. Approximate time for this task is eight (8) minutes.! Yourself identifying the equipment required and explaining the process to your client before commencing. If you don t have the correct step height, use what you have, but describe what you would use in the real test.! Yourself monitoring your client s safety through feedback.! Calculate your client s estimated VO2 max using the formula below and explain the result to your client. You can download a free electronic version of a metronome from your App Store onto your smart phone. A calculator is available to assist you to with the Queens College Step Test equation at: http://www.brianmac.co.uk/queens.htm 7. Five Repetition Maximum Strength Test Film the entire test. Approximate time for this task is eight (8) minutes.! Choose an exercise that is appropriate for your client and explain the testing purpose and process.! Use the correct spotting technique to assist the client and monitor their safety.! Determine the weight for the five repetition maximum for your client using the table found in TOPIC: Fitness Orientation and Health Screening Video lecture - Fitness Markers Part 1 - slide 18 to determine the estimated percentage of one repetition maximum. 8. Develop three Basic Fitness Programs using the Program Design Template (Appendix H) Using the information gathered in the CIII Health Screen Form and the fitness assessments you have performed on this client, design three (3) basic fitness programs appropriate for your client. 1. Cardiovascular Program 2. Circuit Program 3. Resistance Training Program Your programs must:! Contain the goals of each session.! Contain volume prescription (Sets x Reps).! Contain appropriate selection of and justification for each exercise.! Contain a warm up phase and cool down phase as well as the main exercises, and the correct level of difficulty for your client. Clearly Provide:! Using the Program Design Template design an appropriate Cardiovascular program.! Using the Program Design Template design an appropriate Circuit program.! Using Program Design Template design an appropriate Resistance Training program.! Include relevant Intensity, Volume, Duration and Frequency for the each program.! Include relevant warm-up and cool-down for each program.! Attach copies of your programs to your submission. 9. Program Demonstration Choose one (1) of the three programs that you have written from Task 8 and film yourself taking your client through the entire program, including warm up and cool down. (When submitting your USB or DVD it is acceptable to include each exercise of your program as separate videos if required; just be sure to clearly label them.) The session should take approximately 45 minutes. Clearly Show:! Exercise name (introduce it to your client)! Exercise explanation and purpose etc. (why are they doing this?)! Demonstration of movement including the muscle groups involved and eccentric and concentric phases.! Spotting or grip if necessary! Cue 2-3 instructions to insure correct technique.! Assess their movement and give feedback and corrections if necessary! Demonstrate a progression and regression for each exercise! Do they understand enough to be able to perform it on their own? Do they understand common faults for this exercise? Who can they ask if they are unsure? You must include or additionally demonstrate yourself taking your client through four (4) exercises from the table below. This should take you about 15 20 minutes, or may be included in your 45 min session with your client.
