Definition of incubator & incubation an incubator is an organisation that boosts a incubation-process to support the accelerated growth (incubating) of ventures (= incubatees) into successful enterprises with a bundle of services, such as physical space, common services, culture, training, coaching (knowledge and experience), networking connections and (access to) capital P. 3

General information Financed by the Italian Ministry of Industry through a call for proposals for the selection of projects to promote and provide technical assistance for the starting-up of innovative enterprises in the ICT and telecommunications fields Implementation body: Consortium I TECH-OFF set by the three founding partners ASTER, University of Bologna and Fondazione Alma Mater Project duration: 5 years (April 2004 to April 2009) Budget: 2.5 Million P. 4

Access to the various phases Pre-incubation: access is for new or potential entrepreneurs who wish to check their business idea feasibility through writing a Business Plan. Incubation: access is for new or potential entrepreneurs who already have developped a business plan, and who are ready to start their business activity. Post-incubation: access is for those enterprises that have been incubated. P. 7

2006-2007 Recognitions Partecipation to Smau 2007: 7 enterprises included within the Innovation Paths of Smau 2007, the international ICT exhibition organised in Milan on October 15-18. The business plan competition of Bologna University StartCup 2006: OptIT! was awarded the first, section in Imola, 321Vendi project ranked second, section in Bologna. StartCup2005: Bronteion S.r.l. won the first prize, section in Bologna. Research To Business 2006: I TECH-OFF had a stand hosting 5 companies. MEEO was awarded the Vote the Innovation second prize. MEEO s.n.c. from San Giovanni di Ostellato (Province of Ferrara) obtained great visibility through the media for having developed an original thin dust monitoring system. RICUBO 2006: Waymedia received the RICUBO2006 prize awarded by the investors and providers of funds participating to the Investment Forum during the RICUBO - Searching for Innovation, Investors and New Enterprises event 2005 edition.
