PUBLIC & PRIVATE BUS SERVICES TO & FROM GLENAEON CURRENT AS AT FEBRUARY 2016

Note on Chartered School Bus Routes and Timetables From time to time to improve the service for our families minor changes are made to the routes of the chartered School Buses. Before any change is made all current users are consulted. Generally changes may occur from year to year but not within a year except for reasons of long term road-works or safety issues.

BUS SERVICES Glenaeon is serviced by STA school buses originating in Manly, Northbridge, Castlecrag, Chatswood and Wynyard; and Sydney Buses originating in East Lindfield, Mona Vale and the City; STA buses from Lane Cove, Gladesville and North Ryde; and private buses (Forest Coaches) from Belrose, Castle Cove, Davidson, Killarney Heights and Warringah Mall terminate at the Chatswood Interchange allowing connection with the STA school bus there. The school also charters Daily School Shuttle Bus Services from North Sydney Bus Charters for the following areas: The Northern Beaches, including Palm Beach, Careel Bay, Avalon, Newport, Mona Vale, Narrabeen and Frenchs Forest. This bus drops students at both campuses (as necessary) and collects them in the afternoon. The Eastern Suburbs, covering Maroubra, Coogee, Bondi Junction, Paddington and Moore Park. This bus drops students at both campuses and collects them in the afternoon. The Inner West Marrickville/Lilyfield is serviced by a route travelling through Marrickville, Petersham, Annandale and Lilyfield and back to school via the Harbour Bridge. This bus drops students at both campuses and collects them in the afternoon. The Inner West Balmain/Lane Cove is serviced by a route travelling through Balmain, over the Gladesville Bridge to Hunters Hill, Lane Cove and on to Glenaeon School. This bus drops students at both campuses (as required) and collects them in the afternoon. Travel on all School Bus Services is subsidised by the school but there is a cost per child, ($450 per term for full time use) which must be paid before bus passes are issued. A 50% discount is available for the second child travelling from each family and third and subsequent children travel for free. For questions regarding this service you can contact Reception at Middle Cove on 9417 3193 or call North Sydney Bus Charters directly on 9427 8533. Parents can also arrange for their children to take a Chartered School Bus to transit from Middle Cove to Castlecrag for after-school care at approximately 3.35. To arrange this, please contact Reception at Middle Cove on 9417 3193. BUS STOP SUPERVISION At Middle Cove a teacher is on duty directly after the end of school at the bus stops at Greenfield Avenue, Victoria Avenue, and Eastern Valley Way, Middle Cove. At Castlecrag, children wait with the duty teacher in the area near the Edinburgh Road gate and are supervised when boarding their bus. Supervising teachers can be recognised by their fluorescent safety vests. When travelling to and from school on school buses and public transport all Glenaeon students are expected to comply with a Transport Conduct Code in order to ensure their safety and comfort and the safety and comfort of others. The conduct of students on school or public transport will seek to uphold the School Values and general Code of Conduct. NEW SCHOOL STUDENT TRANSPORT SYSTEM (SSTS) OPAL CARD The introduction of the new School Opal card and online application form will provide significant benefits for schools. Eligible students within the Opal network will be able to travel to and from school with the new School Opal card. Students in uniform do not need an opal card until the 29th February 2016 Processing times may be longer than 6 weeks. If the school sends in the application the Opal card will be returned to the school, otherwise it goes to the Student s home address. Automatic renewal students with an existing travel pass will automatically receive a School Opal card early Term 1, 2016. However, parents, guardians and students will need to apply if the student: 1. is just starting school and has not had a pass before 2. is moving from Year 2 to Year 3 or from Year 6 to Year 7 (change to the minimum walking distance eligibility) 3. is changing schools or campuses, including going between primary and secondary school 4. or, if the student s personal details have changed (e.g. address).
