LEVEL 2 AWARD IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Laithwaite s Scholarships The highest achieving Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits candidates from the UK, the USA and Australia are invited to write an essay application for a scholarship with Laithwaite s. The award is a travel grant of 700.00 each to study a wine and/or spirit producing region of their choice. The WSET Book Prizes 15 author signed book prizes are awarded to high achieving Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits candidates from overseas. FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine Prizes A single print edition of FINE Wine & Champagne India Ma gazine and a one year subscription to the e-reader is awarded to all candidates from India achieving Pass with Distinction for their Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits. A one year subscription to the e-reader of FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine is awarded to all successful Indian candidates of the Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits. LEVEL 2 AWARD IN SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Worshipful Company of Distillers Award A travel grant of 750 to be used for a study trip to a spirit producing region is awarded to a high achieving Level 2 Award in Spirits candidate from the UK wine trade. Delamain Cognac Prize A study visit to Cognac with Delamain Cognac is awarded to a high achieving Level 2 Award in Spirits candidate from the UK wine trade. LEVEL 3 AWARD IN SAKE SCHOLARSHIP The IWC Sake Level Three Award Awarded to the top student passing the WSET Level 3 Sake course. The winner will be awarded an IWC Trophy and be invited to join the World s elite Sake judges to judge Sake at the IWC. LEVEL 3 AWARD IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine Prizes A one year subscription to the print edition of FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine and the e-reader is awarded to all candidates from India achieving Pass with Distinction for their Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits. A one year subscription to the e-reader of FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine is awarded to all successful Indian candidates of the Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits. The FINE Wine & Champagne India Magazine Scholarship The FINE India Scholarship will be awarded following an interview with FINE to one of the Level 3 candidates who studied in India and passed with distinction. The award will be a study tour to Nashik.
The Bunch Award Six cases of fine wine, one from each Bunch member, along with three years storage, if required, are awarded to a top Level 3 candidate who is ideally employed in Media &/or PR. This award is available to candidates in all markets The Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux Scholarship A place on the 3-day Grands Crus course at the Bordeaux Wine School as a guest of the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux is awarded to two high achieving candidates from either Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland or Denmark. The Barry Burton Memorial Prize The highest achieving Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits candidates from Hong Kong will be invited to apply for the scholarship. The prize includes an engraved decanter, a HK$10,000 grant to be used towards a study trip to a wine producing region or towards approved further wine studies and a magnum of wine from the Barry Burton collection. The scholar will be invited to the annual dinner of the Hong Kong Wine Society, where they will be expected to give a short speech. Decanter Scholarships Three educational scholarships of 3,000 each towards Level 4 Diploma course fees are available to top Level 3 candidates from Mainland China, Hong Kong & Macau and Japan. Only candidates who are self-funded are eligible. Wine Australia Scholarships A study trip to Australia is awarded to two high achieving candidates all working in the wine and/or spirits trade. One candidate will be from the North America and one from Mainland China. High achieving candidates in the Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits from the UK are invited to a viva voce exam for the following scholarships and prizes. The Michael Cox Vintners Award The Patrick Sandeman Vintners Award The John Avery Vintners Award The Rhône Prize A silver-plated wine cooler is presented to a high achieving candidate from the UK wine trade. The winner receives an engraved trophy and a case of Rhône wines selected by Hallgarten Wines. The Champagne Academy Scholarship A place on the Champagne Academy study course and an invitation to join the Academy is awarded to a high achieving candidate from the UK wine trade. The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino Scholarship One year's Honorary Membership of the Gran Orden de Caballeros, and a study trip to Spain as a guest of the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino offered by Wines of Spain to be awarded to one high achieving candidate from the UK wine trade. Decanter Prizes Two high achieving UK non-trade candidates are each awarded a one year subscription to Decanter magazine and a double ticket to the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter.
Porter & Laker Prize A high achieving candidate from the UK wine trade is awarded 850 towards Diploma course fees by wine logistics specialists Porter & Laker. The winner s company is also awarded 350 towards an annual Corporate Partnership with The Benev olent the Drinks Industry Charity. The Incorporation of Coopers Earl of Wessex Scholarship A candidate from the UK wine and/or spirit trade is awarded a visit to a cooperage and a whisky blending session in Glasgow. The Oddbins Scholarship A grant of 1,000 to be used for a study trip to a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded to a high achieving UK non - trade candidate. The Julian Brind Scholarship A grant of 1,000 to be used for a study trip to a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded to a high achieving UK candidate. This award is sponsored by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The WSET Unit 1 Scholarship A place on the WSET BACK course is awarded to a candidate from the UK wine/spirit trade with outstanding marks in the Diploma Unit 1 Global Business of Alcoholic Beverages. The Peter Hampson Memorial Scholarship A 500 grant for a study trip to a wine producing region is awarded to a candidate with outstanding marks in the Diploma Unit 2 Wine Production exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade. The Marks and Spencer Scholarship A place on either the one week viticulture or vinification course at Plumpton college is awarded to a candid ate from the UK with outstanding marks in the Diploma Unit 2 Wine Production exam. The Worshipful Company of Distillers Scholarship A study tour to distilleries within the United Kingdom is awarded to a candidate from the UK wine trade who was a high achiever in the Unit 4 - Spirits of the world exam. The Champagne Scholarship A personally tailored study visit to Champagne as a guest of the Comité Champagne is awarded on interview to a candidate from the UK wine trade who was a high achiever i n the Unit 5 - Sparkling wines of the world exam. The Moët & Chandon Scholarship A study visit to Maison Moët & Chandon and the Champagne region is awarded to a candidate from the UK wine trade who was a high achiever in the Unit 5 - Sparkling wines of the world exam. The visit will be part of a group experience aiming to discover Moët & Chandon and the Champagne region. The Codorníu Raventós Wineries Scholarship A four day 'hands on' taste of working a vintage in two different Codorníu wineries is awarded to a candidate from the UK wine trade who was a high achiever in the Unit 5 - Sparkling wines of the world exam. The Lustau Sherry Trophy A silver copita is presented to a high achieving candidate in the Unit 6 Fortified Wine exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade. The winner receives a study visit to Jerez as a guest of Emilio Lustau SA and an engraved glass copita. The Graham s Port Scholarship A study visit of two-to-three days to the Port producing region is awarded to a hi gh achiever in the Unit 6 Fortified Wine exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade.
The McNie Tasting Trophy A silver-plated wine cooler is presented to the candidate submitting the best Unit 3 tasting paper. The winner receives an engraved glass ice bucket. The Wines of Portugal Scholarship A high achiever in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade is awarded a study visit to Portugal. The Sogrape Vinhos Scholarship A high achiever in the Unit 3 Light Wines of the World exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade wins a study visit to the four classical regions of Portugal. The Royal Tokaji Mad Scholarship A two day study trip to Tokaji is awarded to a candidate from the wine trade who was a high achiever in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam. The Freixenet Scholarship A study visit to several Spanish wine regions as guest of Freixenet UK and the Ferrer Family Wineries is awarded to a high achiever in the Unit 3 from the UK wine trade. The Louis Jadot Burgundy Scholarship A study trip to Burgundy and a decanter are awarded to a high achiever in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam and who is employed in the UK wine trade. Wine Communicators of Australia One year of free membership is awarded to every Australian diploma graduate. The United Kingdom Vineyards Association Prize A programme of events throughout the vineyard year is awarded to a high achieving graduate from the UK. Hors Concours A case of wine is awarded to the top non-trade graduate by the Worshipful Company of Vintners. Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) Scholarship A high achieving graduate from the USA, who works in the restaurant sector, is awarded a study trip and work experience with RNDC. Napa Valley Vintners Scholarship Attendance at one of the Napa Valley s Vintners 3-day professional trade education programs is awarded to a high achieving graduate who is employed in the wine industry in one of the following markets: Canada, UK, China or Japan. Fine Wine Partners (FWP) Scholarship A high achieving graduate from Australia, who works in the trade, is awarded a $1,000 grant towards approved further wine studies, a $1,000 cellar specially selected from the outstanding FWP portfolio of fine wines and an engraved Spiegelau Decanter. The Bibendum PLB Scholarship A study trip to Burgundy taking place in February/March with a focus on blending is awarded to a high achieving graduate who works in the wine and/or spirit trade in the UK. The ProWein Scholarship A four day trip to Düsseldorf to attend ProWein, in addition an option regarding a 3 -days-winery tour with the German Wine Institute is awarded to two outstanding trade graduates from China, Singapore, UK and/or USA. Wines of Germany Scholarships
A study trip to Germany as a guest of Wines of Germany is awarded to two outstanding graduates. One graduate will be from the UK trade and one from overseas. Concha y Toro Scholarship A study trip to Chile as a guest of Concha y Toro is awarded to a high achieving graduate who is working in the UK wine trade. The Hardy s Vintage Scholarship A ten day study trip to Australia during vintage, as a guest of Accolade Wines Ltd, is awarded to a high achieving graduate who is working in the UK wine trade. The Yvonne May Wine Australia Scholarship A study trip to Australia is awarded to an outstanding graduate who works in the wine and/or spirits trade in UK/Europe. Wine Australia Scholarship, Asia Pacific A study trip to Australia is awarded to an outstanding graduate who works in the wine and/or spirits trade from either Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore. The Wine Trade Club Paten Scholarship A bourse de voyage of 1500 is awarded to a high achieving graduate from the UK wine trade to enable them to visit the wine/spirit producing region(s) of their choice. Wines from Spain Scholarship A high-achieving graduate from the UK wine and spirit trade, is awarded a 4,000 bursary towards approved further wine studies. This award is sponsored by Wines from Spain in association with The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino. The Derouet Jameson Award This scholarship is awarded to two outstanding graduates from the UK wine trade. The value of the award is over 4,500 each to assist deserving candidates with the cost of the Master of Wine study course. The HKIWSC Scholarship A grant to the value of 3,000 for a study trip and an engraved trophy are awarded to the highest achieving graduate from Asia. The Vintners Scholarship A bourse de voyage to enable the winner to visit the wine/spirit producing region(s) of his/her choice is awarded by the Worshipful Company of Vintners to the highest overall achiever from the UK trade. The Vintners Cup A silver trophy awarded annually to the top graduate with distinction achieving the highest aggregate mark. If the candidate has not received the Vintners Scholarship a bourse de voyage is awarded to enable the winner to visit the wine/spi rit producing region(s) of his/her choice. An engraved decanter is given to the winner. This award is sponsored by the Worshipfu l Company of Vintners. Scholarships are awarded for each academic year (1 st August to 31 st July) and candidates who achieve outstanding marks in their examinations may be eligible. Eligible candidates will be contacted by WSET Awards after the end of each academic year. Candidates are advised their information may be released to interested parties.
