Pyroglaze 0 FIRE SEALS FOR TIMBER BASED GLAZING SYSTEMS CI/SfB (.9) Yt (K) JUNE 0 Fire seals offering 0 minutes fire protection tested successfully with a wide range of glasses. Available separately or as a proven glazing system - for total peace of mind. Tried and tested fire seals incorporating Mann McGowan s own high performance intumescent giving in excess of 0 minutes protection. An attractive range of colours. Easily cut to size. Self adhesive backing of seal ensures trouble free bonding to glazing bead. Available as individual components or complete glazed screen system direct from. (Refer to Pyrovista leaflet.) Introduction Pyroglaze 0 has been developed for glazing various types of fire resistant glasses in timber fire resisting screens and doors to provide at least 0 minutes fire protection, in accordance with BS Part 98. The high grade intumescent core swells under the influence of heat thus enhancing the performance of fire resisting glasses. Description Pyroglaze 0 seals comprise of self adhesive rigid pvc encapsulated intumescent strips. These are easily located between a fire resistant glass and untreated timber glazing beads. Pyroglaze 0 measures mm x mm and is available in a variety of colours. (A slimmer mm x mm is also available but the choice of colours is limited). Pyroglaze 0 is a dry glaze system and thus is simple, quick and clean. The system requires no cleaning down after installation. The high performance intumescent core will swell when subjected to a fully developed fire. This provides an effective seal within the glazing pocket and reduces the risk of premature ignition of glazing beads on the protected face. Applications Pyroglaze 0 seals can be used for glazing fire resisting screens and doors as detailed on this sheet. Pyroglaze 0 is suitable for internal and external applications. The mm thick version can also be used for glazing circular apertures. For external applications the glazing should be capped to ensure the system is sealed against climatic conditions. Pyroglaze 0 can be used in a wide range of fire resisting doors. Pyroglaze 0 has been successfully tested with a growing number of glass types as specified in the approved glass types table in this document. Performance Pyroglaze 0 seals have been successfully fire tested and assessed to BS Part on a variety of glasses including:- Firelite Fyreguard Pyran S Pyrobel Pyrostop Pyroguard Tempaflam* Pyran Double Glazed Units Pyrostop Double Glazed Units * Achieved 0 minutes integrity (both single and double glazed. Further fire tests are planned with other glass types. The above relates only to fire resistance. Part N of the Approved Documents must also be considered in relationship to safety. Construction When constructing glazed screens all timber must have a minimum density of 0kg/m and a moisture content of approximately 0%. The geometry of the glazing beads depends on the glass types (see diagrams). Frames should be securely fixed to the structure and then fire stopped using the following alternatives:- Pyromas intumescent mastic (0mm deep). - No. Pyrostrip 0PSA mm x mm. - Pyrospan (for frame to wall gaps greater than 0mm) Pyroglaze 0 is fitted to the glazing beads by peeling off the release paper on the self adhesive face of the strip and bonding into position. Pyroglaze seals can be easily cut by using a junior hacksaw. Glazing beads should be secured using either / long steel screws at 00mm centres or mm lost head pins at 00mm centres. In both cases the fixings should be splayed to pass under the glass. Pyroglaze 0 can be used to glaze apertures in doorsets that have undergone fire tests with glazed openings. Successful tests have been conducted by various manufacturers including Baillargeon, Bridgman, British Plywood, Crosby, Graeffe, Halspan, Newood, Noberne Doors, Pilkington Glass, C Leary, Schott Glass, Shadbolts Ltd, Leaderflush Shapland Petter, Casey Bonding, Streboard/Falcon, STP, Timbmet, Vacaima and AC Yule. Pyroglaze 0 has been assessed by Warrington UK, Warrington Hong Kong, Warrington Singapore, International Fire Consultants (IFCCAD System). are a FIRAS Registered Distributor. The above photographs show Pyroglaze 0 undergoing a fire test as part of a complete Pyrovista system fire test. All fire tests are conducted under strict, carefully monitored conditions in accordance with BS Parts 0/ 98. In most cases s products are tested to destruction with all of the details carefully logged down to see how and where improvements can be made to the fire resisting performance, not only of the intumescent seals but the complete system. A complete service have been manufacturing intumescent fire seals in excess of years. They were the first company in the world to encapsulate intumescent door seals within a pvc sleeve. From our UK based production facility, we supply construction, aviation and specialised markets throughout the world. is registered to ISO 900 and is committed to supplying quality products to it s broad range of customers. seals have been installed in many buildings including, Princes Quay, Stanstead Airport, Old War Office, Financial Services Building Dublin, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sotherby s, National Gallery, Dorchester Hotel, Royal Albert Hall, Twickenham RFU Stadium, as well as many buildings in South East Asia and mainland Europe. Thanks to our long term relationship with glass and fire door manufacturers and years of expertise in the industry, we are able to advise you on which products are compatible and back this up with the fire test evidence to prove it. If you are in any doubt that what is being installed is incorrect, call us and check first. The installation of fire resistant glazing should not be compromised by the need to cut costs, it is there to protect lives. We can provide RIBA approved CPD Seminars.
