Police Officer A Level qualification equivalents In order to be eligible to apply to become a police officer with Thames Valley Police, we require all applicants to hold two A Levels grades A to C, or equivalent, or higher. All candidates must have been awarded these qualifications at the time of their eligibility checking meeting; expected results will not be accepted. The table below covers a number of equivalent qualifications and states whether or not they meet our entry criteria. We may accept two separate qualifications both at Level 3 or higher if each is graded equivalent to one A Level grade A to C. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept ungraded level 3 qualifications. This is because a pass at A-Level includes grades A to E and we require the higher pass grades of A to C. We are unable to accept a combination of lesser qualifications e.g. at a lower level and/or lower grade. Please be aware that an A-Level grade C is equal to 80 UCAS points. As the entry requirement is two A- Levels each with at least grade C, we therefore require a maximum of two Level 3 qualifications each worth at least 80 UCAS points (together worth a minimum total of 160 UCAS points). The list of qualifications below denotes the ones that have been presented to us and researched decisions made and is therefore not exhaustive. If you have a qualification which is not listed in this table then we would ask you to do some research on it - via NARIC or independently - to see if it is the equivalent to 2 A Levels graded A to C and then submit your findings. Any research you do to support your qualification must be from trusted sites (those ending.org or.gov are particularly good) and should be submitted via email to recruitmentpoliceoff@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk where the Police Officer Recruitment team will look into it and get back to you with an outcome. In order for us to make a fair and accurate decision this process can take some time. Please note that international qualifications are listed at the end of this table.
