CLEANER GREENER WARMER

Verdo Renewables has two production plants in the UK; Andover in Hampshire and Grangemouth in Scotland each plant has an annual production capacity of 55,000 tonnes of wood pellets and 15,000 tonnes of briquettes. All Verdo Renewables products are manufactured from locally sourced virgin timber within the UK and the wood pellets conform with the latest European Standard, ENplus-A1. Verdo Renewables have been awarded the ENplus certificate number UK001 and FSC accreditation. Andover, England Grangemouth, Scotland OUR ORIGINS Verdo Renewables Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of Verdo Holding A/S, the parent company of the Verdo Group. The Group s headquarters is located in the city of Randers, Denmark. Verdo recently celebrated 100 years of providing district heating to the city of Randers, making it one of the oldest heat and power plants in Denmark. Today, Verdo operates its own Biomass fired Combined Heat and Power, CHP, plant and electricity distribution grid. In addition to the CHP Plant, the company also owns the water supply plant in Randers and provides broadband and telephony services via a fibre-optic network.

This means that all the wood used by Verdo Renewables can be traced from FSC sustainably managed forests. FSC accreditation means that consumers can buy Verdo products confident that they are produced from wellmanaged forests. This means customers can be assured that their purchases are not contributing towards global deforestation. NEW EUROPEAN CERTIFICATION Verdo Renewables are the first UK wood pellet producer to receive certification under ENplus, the new Europe wide standard for premium quality wood pellets. ENplus Certificate number UK001 was awarded to Verdo by OFI Cert, the Austrian certification body working in co-operation with the European Pellet Council. The aim of the new certification system is to secure the supply for end consumers of standardised, high-quality wood pellets. The complete supply chain is evaluated to guarantee the consistently high quality of delivered wood pellets. This means evaluation of not only the manufactured wood pellets, but also labelling, logistics, storage and delivery to end customers. CERTIFICATE No. UK001

Verdo Renewables offer; bulk blown pellet deliveries, 10kg bagged wood pellets for heating and briquettes. BULK WOOD PELLETS Verdo Renewables offer a national delivery service for commercial projects throughout the UK and work with a number of regional suppliers who can offer smaller deliveries. To enquire about a bulk delivery, please contact our office. BAGGED WOOD PELLETS FOR HEATING Verdo Renewables 6mm wood pellets are supplied in 10kg bags which are available from a network of local retailers throughout the UK. BRIQUETTES Verdo Renewables briquettes offer easy and convenient combustion and are suitable for burning in multi-fuel stoves, log burners and open fireplaces. Low moisture content and high compression provides a very high energy output and extremely low ash residues make them an exceptionally clean product to use.

Don t just take our word for it... VERDO WINS WOOD FUEL CONTRACT FOR ECO FRIENDLY HOSPITAL Verdo Renewables has been appointed preferred supplier of wood pellets for the biomass boiler plant at Girvan Community Hospital, one of Scotland s most eco-friendly public buildings. Verdo Renewables first delivery of 28 tonnes of wood pellets for the 700kW biomass boiler was delivered last week from Verdo s manufacturing plant in Grangemouth. It is estimated that the boiler at Girvan Community Hospital will require around 1,000 tonnes of wood pellets per year. Alistair McGlynn, UK Sales Manager for Verdo Renewables said, It is a particular pleasure for us at Verdo to secure this preferred supplier appointment for one of the country s most impressive, state of the art, environmentally friendly buildings. We are confident that these Verdo manufactured wood pellets will make a significant contribution to the hospital s twin aims of reducing its carbon footprint and lowering its energy bills. In addition to the biomass boiler which burns wood pellets, other eco-friendly features at Girvan Community Hospital include a wind turbine, use of rainwater to flush toilets, a food waste vacuum system to dry and compost leftover food and low energy lighting. Each of the hospital s main blocks are built with timber frame kits, where all the timber used is from sustainable sources. In addition, only construction materials with at least 10 per cent of recycled materials have been used and this includes insulation from recycled newspaper and concrete blocks from recycled aggregate. Alistair McGlynn, Verdo UK Sales Manager (left) meets with Ian Hill from the Aryeshire & Arran NHS Trust. VERDO WINS WOOD FUEL CONTRACT AT TOP LUXURY HOTEL One of Scotland s top luxury hotels, the Isle of Eriska Hotel near Oban, has appointed Verdo Renewables as preferred supplier of wood pellets to fuel its biomass boilers. Verdo Renewables will deliver around 150 tonnes of wood pellets this year for the two 75kW Hoval Biolyt biomass boilers that heat the hotel and its spa and suite facilities. The 5 star Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island is located on its own private 300 acre island, just off the west coast of Scotland, north of Oban. It is linked to the mainland by a private vehicle bridge. By switching from oil fired boilers last year, the hotel is demonstrating significant carbon reductions, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 200 tonnes per annum. Beppo Buchanan-Smith, whose family has owned of the Eriska Hotel since 1973, said: Verdo Renewables has managed to combine a very efficient, skilful delivery system with a high quality product at a good value for money price. Alistair McGlynn, UK Sales Manager for Verdo Renewables said, To be selected as preferred supplier for one of Scotland s most impressive five star hotels is a particular pleasure for us at Verdo and we are satisfied that the hotel is reducing its carbon footprint, with the added benefit of lowering its energy bills. Other eco-friendly initiatives at the hotel include composting leftover food to use as fertiliser for the golf course, energy saving light bulbs and an environmentally friendly laundry operation. As well as manufacturing wood pellets for use in biomass heating systems, the company also produces wood briquettes for use in open fires and multi-fuel stoves. The Verdo bagged pellets and wood briquettes are now available to both industrial and domestic customers through a network of fuel distribution outlets. VERDO RENEWABLES AVAILABLE FROM TRAVIS PERKINS Verdo Renewables has been appointed as the preferred supplier for bagged wood pellets and wooden briquettes by the Travis Perkins group. The group, which includes Travis Perkins, City Plumbing Supplies, Benchmarx Kitchens and Joinery, Keyline Builders Merchants and the BSS Group including PTS, has over 1,500 outlets across the UK.
